1. George (죠지) is a rnb singer-songwriter and producer from South Korea.
2. An Australian group, with sibling members, Katie Noonan & Tyrone Noonan - both classically-trained musician / vocalists. They have released two albums, the first of which was the multi-platinum, ARIA-award-winning album, Polyserena, and eight EPs / singles.
3. A Manchester, UK duo of Suzy Mangion & Michael Varty. Both of them play the instruments no one else wants - old keyboards and organs, Christmas presents from the Eighties, from charity shops, corners at parties. They add the combined highlights of the percussion trolley, mixing in a collection of sounds made around the house. Their debut EP All Good Things, was released on the Spanish label Lejos in 2002. This was followed by two albums on the Leicester based Pickled Egg label: The Magic Lantern 2003; A Week of Kindness 2005. Suzy Mangion is currently working as a solo artist and released The Other Side of the Mountain on Pickled Egg Records in 2007.
4. A performance / recording name of George Nozuka, an rnb artist, from Toronto, Canada (older brother of Justin Nozuka). His first single Talk To Me hit No.1 on the charts on MuchMusic in Canada. Believe is his follow-up album. He also released singles Last time, Hurting Child and Butterfly
5. John Hollenbeck formed GEORGE during the Covid pandemic. He brought together three great musicians/people whom he loved and admired for a long time! Even though most of the members had never met each other, John was confident from knowing them himself, that this group would immediately be, as one of the members calls it, “tight” (which means “very cool” in case you were wondering.) Their group sound is firmly planted outside any categories or labels, so good luck with that! They remotely recorded a literal “Proof of Concept” in March 2021 and finally met in person in January 2022 in Montreal, Canada where they recorded Letters to George, which will be released on vinyl/cd/digitally on Out Of Your Head Records in early 2023. Butterfly
George Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
when she said im sorry
And I, Im dying on the inside
Cuz i tried but I cant hide the tears
that fall from my eyes
Hold me close one more night
Hold me close one more time
A butterfly
hello with a little wink
But what she think of me
And oh she smiled
give me her name
But who would have thought i would be crying here
with all this pain oh nooo
Hold me close one more night baby
Hold me close one more time (just give me one more time my baby)
Hold me close cuz Im dyin on the inside
A butterfly
Now theres nothing I can do and
theres nothing I can say
about losing you
I wish that I could find a way, wish that I could see you again
If only I could turn back time
Hold me close one more night...
Hold me close one more time..
Hold me close cuz Im dyin on the inside (dying on the inside)
A butterfly....
The song "Butterfly" by George is a heart-wrenching ballad that speaks to the pain of letting go of someone you love. The lyrics start with "Goodbye is what she said, when she said Im sorry," indicating that the singer's significant other has ended their relationship. The next line, "And I, Im dying on the inside," highlights the emotional turmoil he feels, unable to hide the tears falling from his eyes.
The chorus of the song, "Hold me close one more night, hold me close one more time, hold me close cuz I'm dying on the inside, a butterfly," further illustrates the feelings of desperation and helplessness. The metaphor of a butterfly could be interpreted in multiple ways. Butterflies are often associated with beauty and transformation, but they only live for a brief time. This could reflect the fleeting nature of the relationship or highlight the singer's vulnerability and fragility.
The last verse adds a sense of finality to the song, as the singer acknowledges that there is nothing they can do to change the outcome or turn back time. The lyrics are emotionally raw and relatable, capturing the pain and sadness of losing someone you love.
