1. George (죠지) is a rnb singer-songwriter and producer from South Korea.
2. An Australian group, with sibling members, Katie Noonan & Tyrone Noonan - both classically-trained musician / vocalists. They have released two albums, the first of which was the multi-platinum, ARIA-award-winning album, Polyserena, and eight EPs / singles.
3. A Manchester, UK duo of Suzy Mangion & Michael Varty. Both of them play the instruments no one else wants - old keyboards and organs, Christmas presents from the Eighties, from charity shops, corners at parties. They add the combined highlights of the percussion trolley, mixing in a collection of sounds made around the house. Their debut EP All Good Things, was released on the Spanish label Lejos in 2002. This was followed by two albums on the Leicester based Pickled Egg label: The Magic Lantern 2003; A Week of Kindness 2005. Suzy Mangion is currently working as a solo artist and released The Other Side of the Mountain on Pickled Egg Records in 2007.
4. A performance / recording name of George Nozuka, an rnb artist, from Toronto, Canada (older brother of Justin Nozuka). His first single Talk To Me hit No.1 on the charts on MuchMusic in Canada. Believe is his follow-up album. He also released singles Last time, Hurting Child and Butterfly
5. John Hollenbeck formed GEORGE during the Covid pandemic. He brought together three great musicians/people whom he loved and admired for a long time! Even though most of the members had never met each other, John was confident from knowing them himself, that this group would immediately be, as one of the members calls it, “tight” (which means “very cool” in case you were wondering.) Their group sound is firmly planted outside any categories or labels, so good luck with that! They remotely recorded a literal “Proof of Concept” in March 2021 and finally met in person in January 2022 in Montreal, Canada where they recorded Letters to George, which will be released on vinyl/cd/digitally on Out Of Your Head Records in early 2023. Strange Days
George Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
she sees the direction and the weight of my load
she points to a man taking peace to the poor
and a record is broken by the arm of the law
and you and I as we skate, pitch or ride
we seek our adventures in the places we hide
the pendulum dances, opinion poles swing
we're chasing the feeling that our money can't buy
our pocket books empty but we're ready to try
on strange days everything is stranger
and don't I know nothing comes without danger
on strange days everything is stranger
don't I know nothing comes without danger
drowning not waving in a film title end
our mothers and fathers have postcards to send
we calculate the loss and unfortunate things
and the healthy economy that good warfare brings
we're chasing the feeling that our money can't buy
our pocket books empty but we're ready to try
on strange days everything is stranger
and don't I know nothing comes without danger
on strange days everything is stranger
don't I know nothing comes without danger
The song "Strange Days" by George explores the concept of the bizarre and uncertain times we live in. The first verse of the song describes a kind-hearted old lady who helps the singer cross the road, pointing out a man who is working to bring peace to the poor. However, the verse ends on a dark note, with the mention of a broken record caused by the arm of the law, suggesting a sense of brokenness and injustice in society.
The second verse delves deeper into this idea, with the singer and their friends seeking adventure in hidden places, while opinions and ideas swing back and forth like a pendulum. The chorus repeats the phrase "on strange days everything is stranger," emphasizing the sense of uncertainty and danger in the world. The lyrics go on to describe how even something as simple as sending a postcard can become fraught with difficulty in these strange times.
Overall, "Strange Days" is a poignant commentary on the state of the world, highlighting both the kindness and the darkness that exist in society. The lyrics emphasize the need to remain optimistic and continue striving for a better future, even in the face of uncertainty.
