Benson's next recording was It's Uptown with the George Benson Quartet with Lonnie Smith on organ and Ronnie Cuber on baritone sax. This album showcases Benson's talent in constructing swinging bebop lines at blistering tempos. Benson followed it up with "The George Benson Cookbook," also with Lonnie Smith and Ronnie Cuber.
One of his major hits is the song "This Masquerade", which is included in the top-selling album Breezin' . This album represents a shift to more commercially oriented music which brought Benson a wider audience but alienated some jazz fans. Other singles that have made the Billboard Hot 100 charts include "On Broadway" (1978), "Love Ballad" (1979), "Give Me The Night" (1980) and "Turn Your Love Around" (1982).
Benson continues to play outstanding jazz guitar, as evidenced on recordings such as Jimmy Smith's Off the Top, Benson's own live album Par Excellence, and Tenderly, on which Benson is accompanied by McCoy Tyner on piano.
For his contribution to the recording industry, George Benson has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7055 Hollywood Blvd.
No One Emotion
George Benson Lyrics

Midnight excitement to the quiet interludes
And just when I think I've got a clue
I see something new that I have never seen in you
With your eyes you ask what´s in my heart
You wonder why I love you
I don't know where to start
All the things that I feel
No one emotion would ever do
No one emotion could ever describe
'Cause there's too many here inside
I wish I knew the one thing it was
it's more like a thousand things
that all add up to love
Sometimes I look when you don't see
And a wave of affection comes a-washing over me
With your eyes you ask what's in my heart
You wonder why I love you
I don't know where to start
No one emotion could ever reveal
All the things that I feel
No one emotion would ever do
No one emotion could ever describe
All the feelings inside
No one emotion would be enough
I might as well try to pain with just one stroke
Or try to write a love song with just a single note
'Cause no one emotion could ever reveal
All the things that I feel
No one emotion would ever do
No one emotion could ever describe all the feelings inside
No one emotion would be enough
In "No One Emotion," George Benson expresses the complexity of love and how it cannot be captured by any single emotion. Throughout the song, he describes the different moods and feelings he experiences when he is with his lover. From moments of excitement to quiet interludes, Benson is constantly discovering new things about his partner. However, despite trying to articulate his love, he realizes that no one emotion could possibly describe the depth of his feelings. He describes his love as more like a thousand things that add up to become an overwhelming sensation.
Benson then reveals that even when he looks at his spouse and she does not see him, he experiences a wave of affection that washes over him. This powerful surge of emotion is so intense, and he knows that no single emotion could ever be enough to describe it. He compares the impossibility of describing his love to trying to paint a picture with just one stroke or write a love song with a single note.
Overall, "No One Emotion" highlights the complexity and depth of love. Despite our attempts to put our feelings into words, some things cannot be articulated with just one emotion.
