While a first album (entitled Better Than the Rest) was recorded in 1974, the major recording debut came with the release of the eponymous album 'George Thorogood & The Destroyers', released in 1977 (Better Than the Rest was eventually released in 1979). The next album, entitled Move It On Over, was released in the autumn of 1978 and included the hit "Move It On Over" . Other singles from the album included "Please Set A Date" and "Who Do You Love".
During the 1980s, and 1990s, the band recorded some of their most well-known works, "Bad to the Bone" (used to great effect during the bar scene in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and in the opening scene of John Carpenter's Christine), "I Drink Alone" (from the 'Maverick' album), "You Talk Too Much", and "If You Don't Start Drinking, I'm Gonna Leave".
Thorogood himself is best-known for his animated stage presence and loud, raucous electric slide guitar playing. He is also known as "Lonesome George".

George Thorogood & The Destroyers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Are you gonna treat me like you do
How many more times
Are you gonna treat me like you do
You takin' all my money
And all my love, too
How many more years
How many more years
Are you gonna wreck my life
Ah, the way you done
You gonna wreck my life
I'm going to the stairs
I gotta beg ya for my clothes
Goin' to the stairs
Gotta bring back down my clothes, baby
And where I go nobody knows
I'm old and gray
Got no place to go
You got yourself a youngster
And you can't stand it no more
How many more times
Are you gonna treat me like you do
How many more times
Are you gonna treat me like you do
Ah, the way you done
Woman you give me the blues
I'm havin' a hard time
trying to get through to you. The lyrics of George Thorogood & The Destroyers’s song No Place to Go are about a heartbroken man who is tired and fed up of being treated poorly by his lover. He questions how much longer she is going to treat him in such an unkind manner and take advantage of him both financially and emotionally. He also talks about how she has wrecked his life and wonders how much more time he has to endure this torment.
In the second verse, the man is going to ask his lover for his clothes back and he has no idea where he will go. He is old and gray, with no place to go, while his lover has moved on to a younger partner. The singer is frustrated about the whole situation and has a hard time communicating his emotions to the woman he loves.
The song portrays the pain and heartbreak of being in an unfulfilling relationship that drains an individual both mentally and emotionally. The powerful lyrics are accompanied by amazing instrumental performances by the band that add to the raw emotion of the song.
