During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got That Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good to You".
Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.
Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In the Champagne Room)".
In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.
Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.

(It's deeper)
It ain't a fancy home that makes my heart sing, no babe
(It's sweeter)
It ain't the sunny day that makes my nature rise, no
(It's you babe)
It's you babe
The feeling I get when I look into your eyes, ooh
What you do to me, said
I need your body baby, but tell me what to do
I'll follow your lead when trying to get you
To come to me, comfort me
Let me see ecstasy
All that matters
Is you lovin' me
It ain't apple pie that that fills my appetite, no
(It's better) Better
It ain't the young girl that we just seen walking by
(Don't sweat it) Don't sweat it baby, no
Girl, it ain't nothing 'bout my favorite song, no no
(It's stronger) It's stronger
It's how you get me comin' back for your love
Baby, it's longer
I need your body baby, but tell me what to do
I'll follow your lead when trying to get you
To come to me, comfort me
Let me see ecstasy
All that matters
Is you lovin' me
I need your body baby, but tell me what to do
I'll follow your lead when trying to get you
To come to me, comfort me

Your sexy soft skin and other

There'll never be another
To keep these feelings coming, baby baby

The lyrics of Gerald Levert's song "All That Matters" express the idea that material possessions and external factors are not what truly matters in a relationship. The singer is saying that what really matters to them is the love and connection they share with their partner. They dismiss diamonds and fancy cars, insisting that their love is deeper and sweeter than any material object. The singer reveals that it's the feeling they get when they look into their partner's eyes that truly makes their heart sing.
The song goes on to explore the power of sexual connection between the two partners. The singer expresses their desire for their partner's body, but also their willingness to follow their lead and do whatever it takes to make them feel comfortable and loved. The words "comfort me" and "let me see ecstasy" suggest that the singer values not just physical pleasure, but also emotional comfort and intimacy. The lyrics convey the sense that the relationship is built on mutual trust and a deep emotional bond.
Overall, "All That Matters" is a passionate love song that celebrates the importance of genuine connection in a relationship. It speaks to the idea that love is not about material possessions or fleeting pleasures, but rather about the deep emotional intimacy and connection that two people can share.
