During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got That Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good to You".
Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.
Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In the Champagne Room)".
In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.
Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.

Huh, I can't hear ya
Maybe you should just take a shower
Yeah
Baby what's my name, what's my name
Baby what's my name, what's my name
Baby what's my name, my claim to fame, sing
Just rescue me
Baby what's my name, what's my name
Baby what's my name, what's my name
Baby what's my name, my claim to fame, sing
G, G, G
Just rescue me
Three o'clock in the morning
And the phone begins to ring
Ya say you're feelin' kinda horney
And only I can fulfill your needs
Girl, I'm thinkin' 'bout it 'bout it
And I'm tired, ain't had no sleep, no
I want to get rowdy, rowdy
'cause you're saying the things to me
It's G babe, yeah
1 - It just be callin' me
It just be callin' me
Just be callin' me
G, G, G
Just rescue me
It just be callin' me
It just be callin' me
Just be callin' me
G, G, G
Just rescue me
That ya got my attention
Can you do one thing for me
Take out them chocolate covered cherries
And go to work like they were me, yeah
Can't resist the temptation
So you know I'm on my way
I hope you're ready when I get there
Gonna slide inside and play, oh yeah
2 - We can do it in the kitchen, on the kitchen floor
Take it to the bathroom, up against the door
Move it to the bedroom, we can freak some more
You'll ride me like a see-saw up and down
Girl you got me spinnin' like a merry-go-round
Girl I'm soakin' wet, I'm about to drown
I'm about to drown in your love, baby
Keep on callin'
Repeat 1
G-E-are-A-L-D, L-E-V E-are-T
G-E-are-A-L-D, L-E-V E-are-T
G-E-are-A-L-D, L-E-V E-are-T
G-E-are-A-L-D, L-E-V E-are-T
Repeat 1
Repeat 2
Bout' to drown, bubbly, bubbly, bubbly, bubbly
In your love
Gerald Levert's song "Callin Me" is a seductive R&B track about a phone call from a lover in the early hours of the morning. The song begins with a playful exchange between the couple over the phone, where the woman is trying to get the man's attention. She keeps repeating "What's my name?" and he answers with "G, G, G, just rescue me" as a reference to his stage name. The lyrics later describe the man's eagerness to be with his lover, despite being tired and sleep-deprived.
The chorus of the song is an expression of the man's feeling of being irresistibly drawn to his lover. He repeats the line "It just be callin' me" several times to describe the pull he feels towards her. The rest of the lyrics depict the sexual chemistry between the couple, with the man promising his lover that he'll fulfill all her desires. He describes the different places they could have sex, from the kitchen to the bathroom, and finally to the bedroom.
One interesting aspect of "Callin Me" is that it features one of the signature sounds of Gerald Levert's music, his smooth and soulful voice. He was famously known for his skillful singing techniques that earned him a reputation as one of the best R&B singers of his time. Another interesting fact is that the song was released in 2000 as part of his album "G." The album also featured collaborations with other artists such as DMX and Ja Rule.
