Conrad, the guitarist and a main songwriter of the band, decided to leave Ghoti Hook when the band began to tour full time so he could finish seminary and continue with his accounting career. He has been running a website, www.decapolis.com and is doing quite well with it. After the cover album Songs We Didn't Write, Mark Lacasse joined the lineup as the band's sound evolved from punk toward rock on their next album, Two Years to Never. The album also marked a shift to more serious, reflective lyrics. Christian Ergueta left the band soon after; Mark left shortly thereafter.
As a three-piece band, Ghoti Hook released a six song EP titled EP on Velvet Blue Music. The group disbanded in 2002. The band has said on occasion that they would rather forget their pop punk days and that Ghoti Hook never really started until they changed their sound. The band's last concert was at Cornerstone Music Festival on July 6, 2002, with guest performances by both Conrad and Mark. The concert was recorded and released as a live album entitled Rest In Peace.
Their final show can now be viewed in its entirety on YouTube.

She doesn't think that she can lose
And with this we just cannot get along
I must admit I like her a lot
This infatuation just won't stop
And in the end I know I must be wrong
I wonder, I wonder why
Indication of infatuation
Complicates the situation
It's making me search out a real escape
This creation of this relation
And concentration of admiration
Has got me dumb and all bent out of shape
I wonder, I wonder why
I wonder, I wonder why
But I'm ignorant, stubborn and stupid
I won't take the time to give in
To the fact that I must wait
And let him show me where to begin
If I go ahead and try to find her
By myself I'll make a mistake
When will I learn that this big decision
Is not mine to fully make
With this now that I must mention
So I can stop this stupid tension
And free myself from feeling selfish greed
My sinful motives and bad intentions
Has been brought to my attention
And even now I know I deny need
I wonder, I wonder why
I wonder, I wonder why
But I'm ignorant, stubborn and stupid
I won't take the time to give in
To the fact that I must wait
And let him show me where to begin
If I go ahead and try to find her
By myself I'll make a mistake
When will I know that this big decision
Isn't mine to fully make
The Ghoti Hook's song "Body Juggler" is about a person who is infatuated with someone they are unable to be with. The singer knows that they cannot have a relationship with this person, but their infatuation is making it difficult to let go. The lyrics express the singer's frustration with their inability to control their feelings and their realization that their desires are ultimately selfish. The first verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, with the singer acknowledging their own limitations in understanding the situation. The second verse delves deeper into the complexities of the singer's feelings and how they are being clouded by their infatuation. The final verse is a realization that the singer needs to let go of their selfish desires and accept that they may not be able to have the person they want.
