Thank god this zoo was put to an end. I drive past in on my way to college and it always broke my heart to hear of the animals conditions. I can only hope to work for an organization that can help end animal cruelty like this investigator.

@William Schutz It was sadly opened back up a few years back, I went across the street from it to the Dino Park and went to their gift shop, what I saw I didn't like, the LEmur I saw had such a small enclosure. I live a few hours from the natural Bridge area, my mom went before it shut down the first time, she said it was nasty, the animals looked bad and underfed, etc.

I only approve of zoos that are genuinely preserving & expanding Our most endangered species & the Cincinnati Zoo is one of the most genuinely caring, offering the best facilities for it's animals. There are a handful of zoos particularly in the US where They've managed to have success with Black Rhinos being born in the last few years. It's not only roadside zoos that can be hell holes for their animals though. There are plenty of mainstream zoos that are just about making profit with no regard for the animals who live in them & no efforts towards conserving species or regenerating numbers. England doesn't have a great record where zoos are concerned & only in recent years is Bristol Zoo becoming geared towards conservation. It hasn't always been like that. I remember being taken there as a Child & the sadness of the Gorillas in that tiny glass enclosure, nowhere to escape the noise, kids pulling faces at them & driving them mad. It was a hell hole! These animals deserve respect & need space. There are far larger & better sanctuaries when it comes to the conservation of Elephants, the one in Tennessee gives them over, 2,700 acres of Natural wilderness to explore. To choose their own herd & heal. There are many Elephants born there which is testimony to the happiness & success of this non profit. All Elephants deserve to retire there after being used for profit & entertainment in Zoos & Circuses. Indeed there are islands for Chimps to retire to as well. The success rates of species regeneration are far higher in these places. With multiple babies being born every Year.

This "zoo" is a disaster. First impressions walking in with some young pregnant chick with a kid running around and a "I don't want to be here" attitude were disconcerting enough... The parakeet feed sticks were HOT GLUED and the bird couldn't even consume them, even at a dollar a piece I feel cheated. Half of the enclosures did not even have the animals in them with nothing about that listed in the website. Now I get it this time of year there are several types of animals that cannot be exposed to this type of cold like the alligator. But however there should have been some sort of discount or special price on admission. Or at the very least some sort of announcement on the website or even on the front door if you're less than text savvy. Several of the animals had Cuts or some sort of scar on them the tiger enclosures were way too small and unkempt. They're clearly has to be some sort of animal rights violation here even the elephant look like it was about to collapse the trainer that was with him yelled and berated the animal for turning around to look at me and my family there definitely needs to be some animal rights groups that come in here and shut this place down and get these animals to a proper zoo. The only reason this zoo is getting a second star is only because my kids still had a lot of fun out of it but as an adult who knows a thing or two about the world and animal treatment I cannot justify even one. Also the bathrooms had feces smeared all over the back and under side and don't look like they've been cleaned ever

I'd like to see those sorry people fed to some crocodiles. I will say that it's amazing how these days that people sometimes get more time in prison for animal cruelty than they do for rape or murder

This is making me cry. How can people be so cruel? I am sending this to everyone I can, hopefully we can get this place closed forever. I commend the people who work at the hsus, this has to be the most difficult job.

Oh my gosh, what a horrible thing for a child to experience! How did this place stay open so long? There should be a law against roadside zoos of any kind.

I used to go to this zoo when I was a kid. It wasn't until I was in high school that I realized that the animals were being abused. And I'm now 21 and now writing an article about that zoo because it needs to be shut down and the owners need to be arrested for animal cruelty and abuse.
