Slow
Giant Rooks Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Gonna have a ride on a dolphin's back
Ocean's foam in my face or it's dust or sand
The wind is gonna count no more
Unless we keep on thinking like before

Get out, let freedom ring
And let us do our most emotional thing
Oh, when dolphins come
And dolphins come they take your hope
Take your hope
Oh, when dolphins come
And dolphins come they take your hope
Take your hope

Down the river, boy
It takes a long ride but I take it slow
Down with me
Down the river, boy
It takes a long ride but I take it slow
Down with me

I finally arrived at a privileged point
Yet I don't know where to belong

Oh, when dolphins come
And dolphins come they take your hope
Take your hope
Oh, when dolphins come
And dolphins come they take your hope
Take your hope

Down the river, boy
It takes a long ride but I take it slow
Down with me
Down the river, boy
It takes a long ride but I take it slow

And when you feel just like before
Though your heart falls into nineteen holes
And it took some years
And all lights are going out somewhere
And you feel just like before
Though your heart falls into nineteen holes
And it took some years
And all lives are going out somewhere

Gonna have a ride on a dolphin's back
Ocean's foam in my face or it's dust or sand

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Slow" by Giant Rooks talk about finding hope and belonging in difficult times, represented by riding on a dolphin's back. The first verse talks about the feeling of being overwhelmed, like the ocean's foam or dust and sand in one's face, but also mentions how the wind will no longer matter if one doesn't change their thinking. The chorus repeats the line "Oh, when dolphins come and dolphins come they take your hope, take your hope," which could mean that when you find something or someone that gives you hope, you need to hold onto it or else it will slip away.

The second verse talks about going down the river and taking life slow, even if it takes a long time to reach your destination. The line "I finally arrived at a privileged point / Yet I don't know where to belong" seems to suggest that even though the singer has achieved something, they still feel adrift and uncertain. The final verse repeats some of the lines from earlier in the song, emphasizing the idea that despite hardships and the feeling of being stuck, there is still a glimmer of hope to be found.

Overall, the lyrics of "Slow" encourage the listener to take their time in finding their way, to hold onto hope when they find it, and to be open to the unexpected (like riding on a dolphin's back).

@plantmom97

wahre Künstler! Live & akustisch genau so gut wie auf der Platte, wenn nicht besser. faszinierende Natürlichkeit und Harmonie in Gesang und Instrumentalität! :)
