In 2017 GINGE started writing and making her own music. Starting out with producer Clarx Kent she found the power of turning her own experiences into her songs. With the help of .multibeat she embraced her soulful side.
GINGE: ‘I like it when strengths and weaknesses exist side by side. I like to write ballads about merciless love, and then to counterpart it with a banger about self confidence.’
On her debut EP Belly, she touches on subjects like womanhood, romance, feeling empty and standing your ground. ‘Over the years, a kind of fierce empowerment has been woven into my music.'
A year later she released another EP: Bummer. Catchy hooks and danceable beats surround stories about nightly escapades, being together alone and alone together. After all, the years of isolation during the pandemic really got her writing about the things that she missed most: people and adventure.
After a few collaborations and trying out different genres, she's now releasing some smashing singles to keep you fed while she's working on something bigger. Keep your eyes open for this playful redhead...
Molly
Ginge Lyrics

You're not lonely
You don't miss me
That okay, but I do
I'm depending
On the Molly
To make me feel good again
Ooooooo
Ooooooo
Make me feel closer, closer
Ooooooo
Ooooooo
Make me feel closer, closer
Wish I was dreaming
Instead I stare at the ceiling
Keep losing sleep
Over sleep over you
Shouldn't be using
What just keeps on bruising me
Blame you for fooling around
Nothing new
Ooooooo
Ooooooo
Make me feel closer, closer
Ooooooo
Ooooooo
Make me feel closer, closer
In Ginge's song "Molly", the artist is expressing his emotional turmoil caused by a break-up. In the first verse, he acknowledges that the person he misses does not miss him in return. He then admits that he is dependent on "Molly" to make him feel good again and feel closer to the person he misses. "Molly" is a slang term for MDMA, commonly used as a party drug. Thus, it can be inferred that he uses the drug to mask his pain and seek temporary relief.
In the second verse, Ginge talks about how he is unable to sleep and keeps staring at the ceiling due to his distress. He admits that using drugs like Molly only causes him further harm and blames the person he misses for the pain he is in. The chorus is repeated twice, where Ginge pleads for the drug to make him feel closer to the person he misses.
The song highlights the artist's struggle with addiction, the aftermath of a break-up, and the adverse effects of using drugs as a means of coping. The lyrics beautifully encapsulate the artist's emotions, and the haunting melody adds to the overall effect, making it a highly relatable and moving song to its audience.
