CAROLINA
Girls Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Get it right now
Find a direction
Get it right now
Make a connection
Get it right now
No satisfaction
Get it right now
I'm gonna pick you up baby
Throw you over my shoulder
Take you away, I'm gonna carry you home to Carolina
Away to southern Carolina
And then I'll never let you go
So many people want to leave
I don't know why they don't just go
Let's get out of here
I want to carry you home to Carolina
Away to Southern Carolina
And then I'll never let you go
Do run run run run
The lyrics of Girls' song Carolina seem to be about yearning for a change and finding a sense of direction in life. The repeated refrain of "Get it right now" and "No satisfaction" conveys a sense of urgency and restlessness. The singer seems to be searching for something that will give them fulfillment and purpose. The reference to "the speed of a sound" could be interpreted as the velocity at which they seek this change.
The chorus of the song, "I'm gonna pick you up baby, Throw you over my shoulder, Take you away, I'm gonna carry you home to Carolina, Away to southern Carolina, And then I'll never let you go," could be seen as a romantic gesture of wanting to take their partner away from their current situation and start a new life together. Carolina, in this interpretation, represents a place of refuge, safety, and happiness.
The final verse seems to address a broader theme of wanting to escape from the mundane and find a place where you truly belong. The line, "So many people want to leave, I don't know why they don't just go," speaks to the frustration of feeling stuck in a situation you want to escape from. The repetition of "I want to carry you home to Carolina, Away to Southern Carolina, And then I'll never let you go," reinforces the idea that finding a sense of belonging is the key to happiness.

Amazing song, the hook is CLASSIC Girls. And the instrumental jam at the end is the cherry on top...I always wish that section would last longer. Epic song and Christopher Owens is a fantastic songwriter. Very honest stuff.
