The band has released five studio albums - Sound Of The Underground (2003), What Will The Neighbours Say? (2004), Chemistry (2005), Tangled Up (2007) and Out of Control (2008), plus a Greatest Hits compilation, The Sound of Girls Aloud (2006). Major singles include Sound of the Underground, Love Machine, Biology, Something Kinda Ooooh, Call The Shots and The Promise. The girls have a record 20 consecutive top 10 singles under their collective belt now, including 4 number ones. Their lowest charting top ten single, The Loving Kind, reached number 10. However, the girls 21st single Untouchable ended their top ten streak, peaking at 11 in May. Despite this, up to week ending 21st June, it has outsold top ten singles (in order of release and highest peak in the UK chart) Wake Me Up (no.4), Long Hot Summer (no.7), See The Day (no.9), Whole Lotta History (no.6) and I Think We're Alone Now, (no.4).
The girls have embarked on five major UK tours to date, traditionally starting in April or May of each year, since 2005. The 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 shows have all been sold-out arena tours, earning the girls a reputation as putting on an explosive live show. The most recent tour, Out Of Control tour 2009, is the largest tour for the girls to date, selling out venues across the UK. They are also set to be the support for Coldplay at a number of their tour dates in September 2009, including Wembley Stadium, where the girls are expected to perform a 75 minute set.
Girls Aloud are unusual in that their management has never made a major push for them to be successful other than within the UK market, and despite their huge success in London, United Kingdom, they are relatively unknown elsewhere in the world. A shame, perhaps, as Pitchfork Media called them one of the two best girl groups of the 21st Century along with Sugababes. Girls Aloud performed a cover of Aerosmith and Run DMC's 'Walk This Way' for Children In Need, with Sugababes.
Girls Aloud released their fifth studio album, Out of Control, on November 3rd 2008. The album debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart, selling over 85,000 copies. The lead single, the 60s flavoured The Promise, entered the UK Singles Chart at #1, selling more than 70,000 copies on its first week of release. The album coincides with band member Cheryl's appearance as a judge on UK TV show The X Factor, where she will manage the three final girls in an attempt to secure one of them a million pound recording contract over the other finalists. Cheryl is a judge alongside Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue. The girls also released their autobiography, Dreams That Glitter, in October 2008.
After a three year hiatus, Girls Aloud returned in October 2012 for their 10th anniversary. A countdown on their website and social media accounts kicked off on 9th October with an announcement expected on Friday 19th October. Their 22nd single, 'Something New,' leaked online on 15th October following the release a teaser video and received high praise from fans. The track premiered on Capital FM the following day.
In March 20th 2013, after the last show of the tour of the album Ten, the group announced via Twitter that they disbanded.

I've been washing my face in
Jet black mascara racing
Down my cheeks 'til I taste it
Staring at my reflection
Every slight imperfection
Staring back at me
Naked as a girl can be
And who would have thought that I'd be so content in my own skin?
Right now the whole world could call me ugly
So what?
To you I'm not
You don't love me 'cause I'm beautiful
Oh no
I'm beautiful 'cause you love me
I can tell you the deepest
And darkest of my secrets
Knowing that you will keep it
And it won't change our feelings
Every mark on my body
You know every inch of me
All the parts that I
Used to hate you glorify
There's a new meaning to freedom when I'm with you
Right now the whole world could call me ugly
So what?
To you I'm not
You don't love me 'cause I'm beautiful
Oh no
I'm beautiful 'cause you love me
Beautiful 'cause you love me
There's a new meaning to freedom when I'm with you
Right now the whole world could call me ugly
So what?
To you I'm not
You don't love me 'cause I'm beautiful
Oh no
I'm beautiful 'cause you love me
Beautiful 'cause you love me
The song 'Beautiful 'Cause You Love Me' by Girls Aloud portrays a message of self-confidence and worth based on the love of another person. In the opening verse, the lead singer is depicted in front of the mirror with black mascara running down her face, seemingly exposing her vulnerabilities. She recognises every perceived flaw on her body, highlighting the importance of self-acceptance. However, despite the world's judgement, she believes that her partner finds her beautiful, not just because of her appearance but because of the love that they share.
The second verse emphasises the theme of trust, as the singer divulges her darkest secrets to her partner, without the fear of judgement or the loss of affection. Instead, she is met with unconditional love for every inch of her being, including the parts she once deemed unworthy. The chorus repeats the message that despite any criticism from others, the love between the couple is enough for the singer to feel beautiful.
Overall, the song reflects the importance of self-love and trust within a relationship. It highlights the idea that physical appearance is not the only aspect that makes a person beautiful. Instead, it is the love of another person, knowing they accept and cherish everything about you, and their appreciation and support help overcome any doubts.

Even the parts of my body that
Used to hate you glorify

If you personally find Nicola the most attractive that is refreshing to hear as she WAS bullied terribly by the media as another commenter confirms above.
She didn't fit the beauty standard of the time and her shyness which I found endearing some foolish men mistook for snobbery.
However I would like to move away from Nicola personally and say you have educated me. I didn't know that men could be jealous of women they admired and found attractive.
You state you envied girls you wanted to be with. But surely if you were to date a lady you found attractive and accomplished your jealousy would potentially be a problem..or would the jealousy stop if she was your partner not an unattainable dream? 🤔
Also to say you literally want to 'be,' this lady is quite an extreme statement, I assume that you don't wish to be a woman ! I believe you are saying you want the admiration and positive reinforcement an attractive lady enjoys in society and in Nicola's case you wished you had the mental bravery to be able to sing live and do so in front of huge crowds which of course most people could never do at least not skilfully.
I had no idea men were jealous of attractive accomplished women that they wished to date. As I have never envied men I found attractive I find it quite extraordinary as it means in couples some men are viewing their relationships rather differently than their wives or partners are. It explains why conflict is more apparent in modern relationships as studies have shown young men suffer from low self-esteem for a myriad of reasons it is not appropriate to list here.
Thank you for your honest insightful comment , it is a welcome change to the usual bluster and bravado men respond with on topics such as these.

I can’t listen to this song without getting sad. Girls Aloud has gotten me through some hard times of my life. They’ve been my favourite band since I was a baby. It’s just so hard to listen to this song without knowing that Sarah is no longer with us. Girls Aloud will always be in my heart forever. 😢❤️

It's weird that it only got to number 97 in the charts, because it definitely deserves be nr 1! It's an amazing song x

This song is beautiful when you really take in the lyrics... It's sad that it took a decade for Nicola to finally get her leading part, but great that she finally did get the final word in many respects. And to me, she has blossomed as the most talented member of GA and also the most beautiful, inside and out.

This is Nicola's song and video. You can see her every emotion she ever felt being in that group, being branded the 'ugly' one, when in actual fact, she's the most beautiful one! <3 <3 <3

@Georgia J 🌹 ..an that’s true compared to this video she’s the highlight I’m looking at & I feel her, she’s blossomed visually, vocally and she connects well with lyrics like personal she felt it more being labelled the “ugly ginger 1” by guys. It’s like from experience singing saying like ppl r loved for their looks when not loveable as ppl on inside, that that person or ppl don’t love her for her looks, they are and feel beautiful for the way they treat them with love for them as they are, even flaws n all imperfections, they see and love the inner u that not shallow to judge a person by just looks though some have both…this song is deep, appreciating and accept who u r and not try to change to fit industry beauty standards, like even the most beautiful on the outside have imperfections insecurities on body they don’t show or may be airbrushed. I remember Nicola used to wear a lot of fake tan at 1 point insecure about very pale skin based on publically bullied…even Kimberly saying she felt confident when Beyoncé massive popstar had and showed off curves. She even sang her that the guy knows and love every inch of her even the curves she didn’t like he glorifies them…

@Markk I agree but if you think of early videos there was a marked difference in perceived attractiveness. Nicola was shy and couldn't pout and pose so she barely got any screen time. In this video she has blossomed and fits in with the other girls.

I wouldn’t go that far that she’s the most beautiful one. She’s not ugly though.

@Georgia J 🌹 Why wouldn't? Just the same way as on anything else. Beautiful girl who you are unable to have yourself, of course it causes jealousy. I am a man and I personally know the feeling! No need to be "overly confident", and being "full of oneself" is rather a turn-off for me, Nicola is just the one I wanna be with or be myself! And not even only her looks, her talent too. And the succesful career with the best girl group ever, despite all the stupid taunts she got from jealous men. And, er.. after all she has confidence, more than enough for anyone. Stage presence is not for everyone, those taunting men could never do it themselves - me neither. Their song Everything You Ever Wanted, as well as many other rather confidently lyriced songs convey loads of confidence. And that getting done by a girl beginning with little confidence surely worsens the jealousy, and of course for the jealous cowards it is always easier to taunt on less confident than more confident ones.

So sad and heartbroken for Sarah. She’s the quirky, fun member of GA. I’m gonna miss her. Sending love to her and her family. ❤️❤️❤️
