Their own need for deception
By the size of their lies and
The size of the stories that they're telling
They've proved themselves to be
Very small.....minded
Do you ever think when you're dealing with the worst
The outcome is the best thing for you
That you face it
I could put it in some theme of a tale
Or a story from a myth
But it means a simple thing
I ain't worth nothing if there's no perspective
Of truth in my life
I think I've had enough
I wonder why I don't just go off
Don't like to be a violent woman
But I know I have it in me.
I know I shouldn't be surprised
Why some people look like hogs rolling in the mud
It's a dying shame
That's where some look for the truth!
In the song "Absynthe" by Gits, the lyrics focus on the idea of people using deception to manipulate others for their own benefit. The tone of the song is one of frustration and anger, as the singer observes these behaviors and struggles with their own emotions in response. The opening lines describe "these people" who use others for deception, and the singer notes the contrast between the size of their lies and the small-mindedness of their characters.
The lyrics go on to explore the idea that dealing with difficult situations can often lead to positive outcomes or growth. The line "And by the good of evil is the knowledge that you face it" suggests a kind of personal transformation that can come from facing difficult truths or confronting challenging situations. The singer wrestles with their own emotions, acknowledging that they have violent tendencies but don't like to act on them.
Overall, the song seems to be about the value of truth and honesty, and the frustration that comes from dealing with people who are deceptive or manipulative. The singer expresses a desire for perspective and truth in their own life, but also acknowledges the complexity and difficulty of those ideals.
