Violinist Marja Tuhkanen and the cellist Bertrand Galen (both fresh from performing with the Irish band Interference) also collaborated on the album. It was released on April 21st, 2006 (coinciding with Hansard's 36th birthday).
Hansard and Marketa starred together in the film 'Once' by writer/director John Carney (a former bass player of The Frames). Many songs of the album The Swell Season were used in this film, which won the World Cinema Audience Award at Sundance 2007. Falling Slowly won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song. In Once, according to the Falling Slowly Songfacts, Hansard played an Irish busker who has a romantic relationship with Irglova's Czech flower seller. Bob Dylan was so taken by the film that he asked Hansard and Irglova to be the opening act on his world tour. For more info: http://www.myspace.com/oncethemovie

When Your Mind's Made Up
Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová Lyrics

And you call, call
Then I'll come running
To fight and I'll be at your door
When there's nothing worth running for
When your mind's made up
When your mind's made up
When your mind's made up
When your mind's made up
There's no point trying to stop it, you see
You're just like everyone
When the shit falls
All you wanna do is run away
And hide all by yourself
When there's far from, there's nothing else
When your mind's made up
When your mind's made up
There's no point trying to change it
When your mind's made up
When your mind's made up
There's no point even talking
When your mind's made up
When your mind's made up
There's no point trying to fight it
When your mind's, your mind
Love, love
There's no point trying to change it
When your love
So if you ever want something
And you call, call
Then I'll come running
The song "When Your Mind's Made Up" by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová is a powerful love song that explores the complexities of relationships and how difficult it can be to change someone's mind when they have made a decision. The lyrics are a message to a lover, letting them know that no matter what they need, the singer will be there for them. The opening lines suggest that the singer is willing to be there for their lover, even if they call in the middle of the night, and that they are willing to fight for them.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the idea that once someone has made up their mind, there is no point in trying to change it or even talking about it. The repetition of this line emphasizes the importance of listening to and respecting the decisions of others, even if they go against what we want.
The lyrics also touch on the idea that when things get tough, people tend to want to run away and hide by themselves. The singer acknowledges this tendency in their lover and reassures them that they will always be there for them, even when there seems to be nothing else left.
Overall, "When Your Mind's Made Up" is a beautiful testament to the power of love and the importance of respecting the decisions of others, even when it is difficult to do so.
