Washington evolved from humble beginnings. Born in the parish of Clarendon, Jamaica he is currently a popular artist in reggae music. this has come after many years of recording and waiting in the wings. In 1997, he released his debut album Brother To Brother and, to date, has released 10 albums.
Washington began his musical career in the early seventies as the lead singer for the group Names And Faces. He later became the lead singer in a band called 35 Incorporated and learned to play the drums under the guidance of, then drummer, Joseph Hill. When Hill left the band, Washington filled the slot, and became a singing drummer.
Washington made his first hit record Rockers Not Crackers in 1978 for the Joe Gibbs Record label; but he did not grace the charts again until the release of the hit Kindness For Weakness in 1998.
Over the years, Washington has recorded sporadically as a solo singer and extensively as a studio drummer and has laid tracks for various artists. Simultaneously, Washington was a full-time drummer (sometimes singer) in several different bands, such as: The Avengers, The Titans, and Happiness Unlimited. With Happiness Unlimited he migrated to the USA to work with Stevie Wonder. The other bands he played with are Calabash and bands that backed Artists such as Leroy Sibbles, Shinehead, Junior Reid, Gregory Isaacs, Sister Carol and the Meditations.
From the resurgence of Glen Washingtonβs singing career, his smooth, raspy, bass voice has often been likened to that of Beres Hammond. Washington says, βBeres is one of my favorite entertainers, so I regard it as a compliment to be compared with him.β With the release of over forty singles and eleven albums in four years, Washington has established himself as not only a singer but also as a songwriter, penning his own songs.
Other albums released by Washington are Canβt You See produced by Jah Life Records; Think About It for Philip Smart; Number One Girl produced by Lloyd Campbell & Jason Sterling, Solitary Red Rose for Ruff Stuff; Canβt Keep A Good Man Down for Don One; Wondering Stranger for Coxone Dodd, Reggae Max for Jet Star, Free Up The Vibes for Stingray and Your Love for Lloyd Campbell & Jason Sterling.
Washington said, βAs a drummer backing other artists, I have toured the world, playing in countries like Japan, North, South and Central America, all over Europe and all the Caribbean Islands. Now I am repeating those trips as the featured artist, and itβs a great feeling to see thousands of fans coming out for my performances."

On And On And On And On
Hey
Any Anywhere Jah Army Goes
The Wicked Man Want To Follow
Just Like A Wolf Whose Wearing Sheep Clothing
My Soul They Would Like To Swallow
They Would Like To See Me Down On The Ground
And One Day Mount Zion Will Be My Home
The Wicked Will Burn In Fire
While We Are Moving On
Now Now Now
Each Day Nearer Our Home
And No More Will We Roam
Thereβ²s Got To Be A Calm
Whoooui After The Raging Storm
Yes We're Moving On
Jah Will Protect Us His Mercies Surrounds Us
His Truth And Glory For Me
And When Jah Bless You Bless Your Brothers And Sisters
Good Fruits Will Fall From Your Tree
You Will Run And Never Be Weary Yet
Though The Road Is Rocky And Steep
When The Way Of Life Seems So Harder
Put Your Trust In The Name Of The Father And The Son
Keep Moving On
Now Now Now
Each Day Nearer Our Home
And No More Will We Roam
Got To Keep Moving On
Yeah Yeah Yeah After The Raging Storm
Yes We Are Moving On
On And On And On
While We Are Moving On
Any Anywhere Jah Army Goes
The Wicked Man Want To Follow
Just Like A Wolf Who Is Wearing A Sheepβ²s Clothing
My Soul They Want To Swallow
They Would Like To See Me Down On The Ground
But Jah Mercy Lifts Me Higher
And One Day Mt Zion Will Be My Home
Then The Wicked Will Burn With Fire
While We Are Moving On
Each Day Nearer Our Home
And No More Will We Roam
There's Got To Be A Calm
The lyrics of Glen Washington's "Movin' On" speak about the journey of life, the obstacles that we face, and our determination to keep moving forward. The song acknowledges that there will be wicked people who try to bring us down, but with the protection of Jah, and the blessings that he bestows, we will rise above them. The lyrics also speak about the idea that each day brings us closer to our true home, which is presumably somewhere up above, and that we must keep moving on despite the rocky and steep road. The lyrics encourage us to keep our trust in the Father and the Son and to keep moving on towards our ultimate destination, which is a place of calm.
The opening lyrics of "While We Are Moving On" highlight the idea that wherever Jah's army goes, wickedness will follow. Although wicked people attempt to bring us down, we are constantly moving and progressing through life. We are called to remain steadfast and not let anyone consume our soul. Jah will take care of us, surround us with his mercies, truth, and glory, and bless us and our brothers and sisters, allowing good fruit to fall from our tree. With Jah's guidance, we will run and never be weary, even when the road is rocky and steep, and keep moving on towards our true home, a place of ultimate calm.
