I was born in 58 and for some reason this song popped into my head out of the blue tonight and I started singing it to my 2 POmeranians who then sat and stared at me. But I’m babysitting my 3 year old grandson tomorrow and wanted to sing the entire song , but can’t find anyone singing it, just this version of a band playing it. I know the first verse, but I assume there must be more to than one verse! I even know it starts with hahaha- Hehehe lol

My great uncle Billy Finegan played the saxophone in the Glen Miller Orchestra.. My mother inherited the royalties to this song and she recieves a generous check each month from it! Such an amazing era

Those who dislike like it never heard it as a child or skipped down the street singing it as those of us who sang it as kids did sang it at the top of our lungs while skipping back and forth to school belting it out at top volume! . Me to piss the grouchy neighbors off! Lol and my older sciblings since I was the youngest and always being picked on so did my best to get back at innocent ways. They couldn’t tattle on me for singing! And I knew it. I learned how to annoy back by singing songs they all hated. Which I now teach my grandchildren! Lol to annoy my kids! Hahaha

what great music, i grew up with so much of this sound plus lots of Mexican music , that was played a lot in the 40s and 50s, my uncle was a very very popular musician , he had his own tv and radio musical show in chicago in the early 50s , he played in many many might clubs and with almost every known great musician and band of that era, my dad would take me to the places he was playing and i could sit in to hear the great sounds. my uncle was offered so many jobs with all the big bands but he said not if he had to leave chicago, so he became very popular in chi-town. i really heard a lot of different music, didnt know how lucky i was til i got into my late years, love these sounds,

Awesome.... My father's parent's era... Popie was in WWII and his brother died then in Italy and Uncle Tex is Over 92 years old... and he was on the USS Minneapolis for 3 total yrs and stationed I think in Pearl Harbor that horrible day..but was out on manuevers when Pearl was bombed....he stayed on that destroyer for 3 solid yrs... for those Men and women who served ... Blessings to you...

There was something special in that era. My husband joined Navy straight out of high school as did my brother. My brother in law was in tank corp & saw lots of fighting in N Africa, losing close friend. Hollywood was decent in those days, all contributing to that generation's good character & desire to work hard feeling lucky to be alive in our Republic of liberty & freedom. That's why most of us are hard-working conservatives and hold on to good values.

I'm 23, and I've been listening to this kind of music since I was 11. I listen to swing, jazz, rock n roll, and doo-wop. I just love the music from back then. It sounds a lot better than the music my generation has. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bragging or anything. I'm just expressing what music I like and what music I don't like.

+Zack Lamberg When we studied World War 2 in school 'modern kids' were absolutely loving this music and so was I. We were asking to have Glenn Miller playing while we were working because everyone found his music so great. I'm not really a 'modern kid'. I've always liked music from the 40s-60s even though I was born in the 21st century. You'd be shocked how many children love this music though.

My first real association was the 1989 classic, "Fat Man and Little Boy" with John Cusack dancing to it for Laura Dern. Prior to that was The Glenn Miller Story with Jimmy Stewart, June Allison and Harry Morgan. A truly remarkable and fun-loving movie. Miller had some jams, BUT so much of it came from the minstrel shows and the chitlin circuit it's unbelievable. It's sad the way in which Miller left us, BUT perhaps karma said, "because you didn't give credit where credit was due THIS is your penalty"? Don't really know for certain, but its something to think about.

actually it really wasn’t he really didn’t care for it that much but his wife LOVED IT in fact when he was in europe in ww2 he made a record down there (or radio broadcasts i don’t know) and he recorded this song for her because he missed her badly and unfortunately poor glenny never made it home 😢 rip
