Purity
Glorified! Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Think back
How did we get here?
Don't you remember?
No one ever does.

Stuck in a world
Where physics don't apply
You are in control
Or so you think.

This landscape,
Littered with memories,
Reminds you of who you are,
What you want,
And what you can't have.

Minutes feel like hours
Hours feel like years

True fears are realised
But the most terrifying thing is
Not knowing you can't escape what's in your head
You can't escape from your mind

Time to wake up,
And face yours.

Wake up, open your eyes, look around.
In the back of your mind, it haunts you.
It will never end.
Fight the flashbacks, it never ends
Recall.
Think back, how did we get here?

Don't you remember?
No one ever does.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Purity" by Glorified! offer a profound insight into the constant battle with oneself. The lyrics take us on a journey through the depth of the human psyche, highlighting the struggle to escape one's own thoughts and memories. The opening lines "Think back How did we get here? Don't you remember? No one ever does." immediately sets a poignant tone, as the listener is encouraged to look back and begin to question the present situation.

The lyrics continue to explore the internal conflicts of the mind. The line "You are in control or so you think," portrays the feeling of losing touch with reality and the distorted perception of one's own control over their existence. The scenery described as โ€œlittered with memoriesโ€ reminds us of the past, highlighting the unalterable effect it has on shaping who we are and what we want.

Brian, and Jeremy ... this worship song so greatly exemplifies the "heart of (GREATFUL) worship" of TRUE Believers of our Lord Jesus Christ and Children of our Almighty God. Those who recognize how much they have been cleansed of, and forgiven ... and of the NEW IDENTITY they now have ... in Jesus Christ. A "DONE DEAL" in Eternity already ... yet even while we continue down the road of "progressive sanctification" in this "physical realm" and this realm of "time and space" here.

How miraculous! How Gracious (of Him). How undeserving (of us).
Yet how sure and permanent His work for us on that Cross, not only setting us FREE but also making us HOLY (in Him) !

To you both, .. may I commend you & thank you for your response to His Holy Spirit in producing this .. a worship tune VERY WELL DONE (for His glory and for His Body).

Thank you.

iWorship Lyrics

Lyrics:
Purify my heart,
Let me be as gold and precious silver.
Purify my heart,
Let me be as gold, pure gold.

Refiner's fire,
My heart's one desire
Is to be... holy;
Set apart for You, Lord.
I choose to be... holy;
Set apart for You, my Master,
Ready to do Your will.

Purify my heart,
Cleanse me from within
And make me holy.
Purify my heart,
Cleanse me from my sin, deep within.

Refiner's fire,
My heart's one desire
Is to be... holy;
Set apart for You, Lord.
I choose to be... holy;
Set apart for You, my Master,
Ready to do Your will.

Refiner's fire,
My heart's one desire
Is to be... holy;
Set apart for You, Lord.
I choose to be... holy;
Set apart for You, my Master,
Ready to do Your will

As a christian woman, I take a shower at night, put on moisturizer and eye cream, and then go to bed and pray, and cry and cry in prayer, and all the eye cream and all the product is wiped away ๐Ÿ˜‚ and it's worth it. Nothing compares to being in the Presence of my Kingโค

Same! God bless you!!!

Beautiful share. By bed time I'm exhausted. But I listen to the word or worship and end up crying out these very words because I need his presence desperately.

I understand...I cry out upon my bed to Him too.๐Ÿ’•

I just found this version of the song that I originally wrote in 1989 . . . tenderly and beautifully done. Still amazed and grateful that this song continues to speak for people in all types of settings. Thanks Jeremy.
