Glorior Belli formed in 2002 with Antares & songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Infestvvs. They released a demo titled Evil Archaic Order in June 2004, followed by the debut album Ô Lavdate Dominvs in May 2005 on CD by Eerie Art records (Chilean label Aquilus Cruoris released the LP, and Satanic Propaganda records released the casette). Their sophomore album Manifesting the Raging Beast was released by Southern Lord records in June 2007. These earlier albums are played in an "orthodox" black metal style common to mostly Scandinavian groups.
Meet Us At The Southern Sign their third album was released on CD by Candlelight records June 2009 (German label Blut & Eisen released the LP) - on this album they began to include a blues style in their initially very "orthodox" black metal and also included clean vocals for the first time. They released a split 12" with Creeping called Rites Of Spiritual Death on Necroterror records on the first of January 2011 that featured low pitch atypical vocals and a much more subdued style compared to their albums. They changed labels yet again for their fourth album The Great Southern Darkness released by Metal Blade records on CD in September 2011, taking their blues inflected style even farther than before and implementing clean vocals again. Their fifth and most recent album Gators Rumble, Chaos Unfurls was released by Agonia records in October 2013 on CD and LP.

Manifesting the Raging Beast
Glorior Belli Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Deathlike dissolution
I rode beneath thy burning eye;
In thought that can alone
Ascend, and so be
A partner of your crime.
Heralds have known,
Over every spot that has been by you caressed
From columns high, the raging beast awakes
And storms of retaliation unfold
Enthralled by hypnotic tones
"Forever abused..."
Softly sings the plague
Still a voice divine can sing
And this incomparable beauty
Still adorn a rotten heart, my own
Where the poison shines and boils
And in each note; emotions flung
aloft with fevered pace.
The music of my soul is sung
with tainted grace.
The lyrics of Glorior Belli's "Manifesting the Raging Beast" explore the themes of hatred, dissolution, and partner crime. The opening lines refer to cycles of hatred and deathlike dissolution, indicating that the singer has experienced intense feelings of animosity and has been worn down by its effects. However, in the next line the singer acknowledges that they have ridden beneath "thy burning eye," suggesting that the object of their hatred is also a source of power and intensity.
The lyrics go on to describe the awakening of the "raging beast" in response to the singer's animosity. The beast is described as rising from "columns high" and unleashing "storms of retaliation" in response to the singer's actions. However, there is also a sense of admiration for the beast's power, as the singer acknowledges that "Heralds have known, Dreamt for thy Infinity." Despite being abused and exposed to the poison, the singer finds beauty in the music of their soul and expresses it with tainted grace.
Overall, the lyrics suggest a complex relationship between hatred and admiration for the object of that hatred. The singer acknowledges the destructive power of their animosity but is also drawn to the intensity and energy that come from battling against it.
