Their album "Ridin' the Tiger" in 1997, released on the White Jazz record label, marked a significant breakthrough both artistically and commercially, positioning them among the leaders of the Scandinavian hard rock movement. "Basement Apes," their fourth album, signed with Sony Music, and "Automatic Thrill" became their best-selling record.
Gluecifer performed at notable events such as the 2004 Quart Festival, opening for Monster Magnet. However, the band announced their breakup in July 2005, despite being considered one of Norway's successful rock bands. Their impact extended beyond music, with contributions to the Norwegian film "Izzat," featuring their song "Desolate City" on the 2008 compilation album "Kings of Rock - Best Of And Rarities."
Following the breakup, members pursued individual projects, including Captain Poon forming the band Bloodlights in 2006. Gluecifer's music was also featured in the soundtrack of the film "The Social Network" with the song "Black Book Lodge." In 2015, Gluecifer's studio albums were re-released on Captain Poon's label, Konkurs Productions. The following year, Captain Poon toured as the guitarist for Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg. In 2017, Gluecifer reunited for several festival appearances in 2018 and reunion shows in Oslo.

Ducktail Heat

A five cent in a two dollar world
He was born restricted, he was born to ooze
Sittin' in a seat
Cheap grin and the smelly feet
Playin' nothin' but a watered out shitty blues
Nowhere on that street
White fire in your soul
White fire and you're out of control
White fire, baby, it's a ducktail heat
You drivin' in the fast lane
With the handbrake on
Changed a pot of gold for a pot of stone
Livin' in a shit house
Where the power's gone
You can have a dollar for that useless telephone
You got a face but you're goin' nowhere
Nowhere on them feet
White fire in your soul
White fire and you're out of control
White fire, baby, it's a ducktail heat
Hey, it's a ducktail heat
You got a lip but you're goin' nowhere
Nowhere on that street
White fire in your soul
White fire and you're out of control
White fire, baby, it's a ducktail heat
White fire in your soul
White fire and you're out of control
White fire, baby, you're my ducktail heat
Come on now
The lyrics of Gluecifer's song Ducktail Heat express the frustration of being stuck in a stagnant life with limited resources and opportunities. The opening lines, "You got a little curl, a five cent in a two dollar world" suggest the persona's uniqueness and potential, but it appears stifled by the environment it was born into. The reference to being "born to ooze" adds to this imagery of being stuck and unable to break away from a less-than-ideal situation.
The song continues to describe the persona's mundane daily life, "sitting in a seat, cheap grin and the smelly feet" and "driving in the fast lane with the handbrake on." The lines "changed a pot of gold for a pot of stone" and "livin' in a shit house where the power's gone" suggest that the persona has made sacrifices and compromises to survive in this environment, but it has not paid off.
The repeated line "white fire in your soul, white fire and you're out of control, white fire, baby, it's a ducktail heat" serves as a rallying cry, urging the persona to break free from their current situation and take control of their life. The "ducktail heat" refers to a hairstyle popularized in the 1950s by the rock and roll subculture, and symbolizes rebellion and non-conformity. In essence, the song is a call to reclaim one's individuality and fight against the societal constraints that limit personal growth.
