1) Gojira is a metal band from Bayonne, France. Their lyrics focus on life, ecology, and spiritual themes. They were formed in 1996 by brothers Joe Duplantier (vocals and lead guitar) and Mario Duplantier (drums), Christian Andreu (guitar) and Alexandre Cornillon (bass guitar). Cornillon left the band in 2001 and Jean-Michel Labadie became their bass player. Genres that they have been associated with over their career include death metal, progressive metal, thrash metal and groove metal.
They had initially named their group Godzilla, but due to legal constraints had to change their name. They therefore chose to re-name their band Gojira - the original Japanese version of their name (in Japanese Gojira means gorilla-whale or gorilla the size of a whale). Some of the content of their music is focused on the ecological effects of human activity on the Earth.
Joe and Mario Duplantier also play in an experimental metal band called Empalot.
In 2007 Joe also became the bass player for former Sepultura members Max and Igor's new project, Cavalera Conspiracy.
2) Canadian powerviolence band existing from 1996-1998 based in Toronto, Ontario.

Gojira Lyrics

Unless you open up and let it go
I've only seen too much of it
I'm bursting open while you set the tone
You ignored this fury too long, I explode
Bring back to life this anger, let it grow
Put aside mind traps and false beliefs
The mask you wear is falling
Try on and watch it fall
Hands down you feel the moment
Releasing out a lifetime
All prayers to these gods
While the tide is growing high
Will you make us stronger
When you strike us down?
“Explosia” by Gojira is a hard-hitting song with lyrics that on the surface seem to be about anger and frustration. The opening verse talks about how holding onto jealousy will only end up hurting you, and how the singer has experienced too much of it. They are bursting open with frustration while the other person in the situation sets the tone. The singer is imploring the other person to stop ignoring their anger and to let it grow instead of keeping it inside. The chorus describes heavy weights that pull you down, and exhorts the listener to try living without the mask they wear and to release their emotions.
The second verse continues with this theme of releasing pent-up feelings. The singer urges the listener to feel the moment with their hands down, to release a lifetime of emotion in one go. They bring up prayer and gods, and ask if the listener will make them stronger by striking them down. The song overall seems to be a call to let go of anger and frustration and to live life authentically and unafraid.
Overall, the lyrics seem to be a message of empowerment, urging the listener to let go of the things that are holding them back and to live boldly and authentically. The song encourages the listener to embrace their emotions, and not to be afraid to stand up for themselves and what they believe in.
