Blackberry Way
Gotthard Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Absolutely Pouring Down With Rain
It's A Terrible Day
Up With The Lark
Silly Girl I Don't Know What To Say
She Was Running Away
So Now I'm Standing On The Corner
What Am I Supposed To Do Now
Goodbye Blackberry Way
I Can't See You
I Don't Need You
Goodbye Blackberry Way
Sure To Want Me Back Another Day
Down To The Park
Overgrowing But The Trees Are Bare
There's A Memory There
Boats On The Lake
Unattended Now The Laughter Drowned
I'm Incredibly Down
Just Like Myself They Are Neglected
Turn With My Eyes To The Wall
What Am I Supposed To Do Now
Goodbye Blackberry Way
I Can't See You
I Don't Need You
Goodbye Blackberry Way
Sure To Want Me Back Another Day
Run for the train
Look behind you 'cause she might be there
'Cept I think it's the air
Blackberry Way
See the battlefield of careless sins
Cast to the wind:
So Full Of Emptiness Without Her
Lost In The Words That I Said
What Am I Supposed To Do Now
Gotthard's song Blackberry Way is a melancholic ballad that reflects on a lost love and the emptiness that follows it. The opening lines describe a dreary, rainy day and a girl running away, leaving the singer feeling lost and unable to express how he feels about the situation. The chorus, "Goodbye Blackberry Way, I can't see you, I don't need you, goodbye Blackberry Way, sure to want me back another day," suggests a sense of resignation and bitterness towards the past, yet a hint of hope for the future.
The second verse talks about a memory from the past, perhaps a happier time when the couple was together. But now, the park is overgrown and neglected, just like the singer's emotions. He turns his eyes to the wall, not knowing what to do now that his love is gone. The third verse is more ambiguous, with the singer running for a train and looking behind him, unsure if his lost love is there. The final lines, "So full of emptiness without her, lost in the words that I said, what am I supposed to do now," suggest that the singer is haunted by his past mistakes and can't move on.
Overall, Blackberry Way is a poignant song that captures the pain of lost love, with hints of regret, bitterness and hope. It offers an emotional insight into the singer's state of mind after a breakup, as he tries to come to terms with his loneliness and heartache.

i have been a fan of roys music sine the early 70's and have heard many cover versions of this, and i consider this to be the best one, it even incorporates the james bond theme as roys new band do when singing live. nice one guys
