Dirty Devil Rock
Gotthard Lyrics

Got a shiver down my spine
Hard lovin' woman still goin' through my mind
Blame on you, blame on me
If you're the apple the snake is what I'll be
And all is gettin' back
To where it once belonged yeah yeah
And I've just lost my soul on dirty devil rock
On dirty devil rock
Oh Lord have mercy
I can't stand it anymore
I dealt with the devil now he's knockin' on my door
I know you, you know me I am a sinner guess I'll always be
The lyrics to Gotthard's song Dirty Devil Rock center around the idea of temptation and succumbing to sin. The opening lines describe a physical and emotional reaction to a past sexual encounter with a woman, indicating that the memory still haunts the singer. He acknowledges that both parties are to blame for their actions, likening himself to a snake tempted by an apple. The chorus speaks to the consequences of giving in to such temptations and how it can lead to a loss of oneself, as he proclaims that he's just lost his soul on "dirty devil rock."
The second verse continues to explore the theme of temptation and its consequences. The singer expresses desperation, pleading for mercy as he feels overpowered by his sinful desires. He acknowledges that he has made a deal with the devil and is now facing consequences for his actions. He identifies himself as a "sinner" and resigns himself to the idea that he will always struggle with temptation.
Overall, the lyrics to "Dirty Devil Rock" warn against the dangers of giving in to sinful desires and the potential loss of self that can result from doing so.
