Go For It
Gouldman Graham Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Work and work and work and work
Work and work and work and work
You gotta work, You gotta work (repeat)
Friends'l try to put you down
Go for it - go for it
When you want to go to town
But if you want to sing this song
Go for it - go for it
You gotta work out all night long
You gotta go for it against the opposition
Go for it if you want to win the race
Go for it it's really your decision
Go for it you've gotta set the pace
Now you can choose the lazy way
Go for it - go for it
You can boogie all night and sleep all day
Go for it - go for it
But the best in life don't come free
Go for it - go for it
So let work be your philosophy
You gotta go for it against the opposition
Go for it if you want to win the race
Go for it it's really your decision
Go for it you've gotta set the pace
For inspiration we all need a mama and a papa
'Cause to find a reason not to work is easier than harder
Go for it against the opposition
Go for it if you want to win the race
Go for it it's really your decision
Go for it you've gotta set the pace and work
Work and work and work and work
Work and work and work and work
Work and work and work and work
You gotta work, You Gotta Work
(Repeat)
The song "Go For It" by Graham Gouldman encourages the listener to work hard and pursue their goals despite any obstacles or critics that may stand in their way. The first set of lyrics emphasizes the importance of working consistently in order to achieve success. Gouldman repeats "work" twelve times to drill this point into the listener's mind.
The following verses suggest that, in addition to hard work, an individual must also make a conscious decision to pursue their goals. They must not be swayed by friends or tempted to take the "lazy way" out. Gouldman particularly emphasizes the need to set one's own pace and not allow others to dictate it. The final verse encourages the listener to seek inspiration from loved ones and to realize that it often takes more effort to find reasons not to work than it does to simply put in the effort.
The message of "Go For It" is clear: hard work and determination are the keys to success, and one must be willing to push beyond any challenges in order to reach their goals. Gouldman's repetition of the word "work" and his use of imperative language throughout the song conveys a sense of urgency and motivates the listener to take action.

I actually gave up the confederacy thing for a bit... the civil war doesn’t really interest me that much right now so i switched to doctor who for a little bit and I’m just waiting for my interests to switch again sometimes it just repeats in a loop to starwars,transformers,WW1,WW2doctor who... it all just depends really and I couldn’t really take being insulted anymore every damn time when I had that battle flag on my profile pic people would insult me for no reason! It didn’t even stand for racism either...
