One in a Million You
Graham Central Station; Larry Graham Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Love had played its games on me so long
I started to believe I'd never find anyone
Doubt had tried to convince me to give in
Said, "You can't win"

But one day the sun came a shinin' through
The rain had stopped and the skies were blue
And oh, what a revelation to see
Someone was saying "I love you" to me

A one in a million
Chance of a lifetime
And life showed compassion
And sent to me a stroke of love called "You"
A one in a million you

I was a lonely man with empty arms to fill
Then I found a piece of happiness to call my own
And life is worth livin' again
For to love you, to me, is to live

A one in a million
Chance of a lifetime
And life showed compassion
And sent to me a stroke of love called "You"
A one in a million you

A one in a million
Chance of a lifetime
And life showed compassion
And sent to me a stroke of love called "You"
One in a million you

"I was a lonely man with empty arms to fill, Then I found a piece of happiness to call my own, And life is worth living again ..." Why can't they write lyrics like this any more? Beautiful song that just washes over you - so dreamy.

Too Much intentionally pandemonium and chao. It's hard to compose with turmoil EVERYWHERE.

When we came home from his treatment in LA, we went to meet with our pool league group in our sponsor's home base bar. We all sit at one big table with food made by the owner of the bar. We buy our drinks separately or from someone within the team. During our practice, we are allowed to participate in the karaoke singing tryst. That night, my husband broke out all the songs he'd loved singing to me, he knew all my favorite songs as he was the lead singer and lead guitarist in his band group. But one song I became so emotional when he started singing after he said, "To my wonderful wife of 30 years, sweetheart, this song I will sing to you"! This song was practically new at the time and everybody tried to sing it, but always have given up by goofing off. This time everyone talks in whispers, so not to distract the singer. It was sung so beautifully and all the wordings of this song was easily understood. To me, I embraced it. It's a messaged that's so meaningful 😢.
