Old Rose Motel
Great White Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I see you bleed the feelings you close up
I know the pain that you hide
Oh baby please don't be no close out
Stay with me through the night

Needle Street ain't no answer
Can't dream a heartache away
Let the need be your master
All of your dreams fade away

Everything you want
Everything you want

Anything you want
Anything you want
You can find it right here

Ah no don't go
Down to the midnight motel
Oh no so low
Can't find no heaven in hell

There's a silence that comes in the morning
Leaves you screamin' at the wall
As you sit there in your easy chair
Chasin' demons at a crawl

When you feel that you'll never find
Somewhere why'll be safe to lie
Just take a look over here
Together we'll rise in a mornin' glory

Anything you want
Anything you want

Everything you want
Everything you want
You can find it right here

Don't go don't go
Down to the Old Rose Motel

Oh no don't go
Down to the midnight hotel

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Great White's song "Old Rose Motel" speak about a person who is hurting and hiding their pain from the world. The singer acknowledges this pain and urges the person to stay with him through the night, instead of going to Needle Street, indicating that substance abuse is not the answer to their problems. The lyrics suggest that giving in to one's addictions and allowing them to take over will cause dreams and desires to fade away. The singer juxtaposes this with the promise that everything and anything the person wants can be found right where they are, with him.

Later in the song, the singer describes a feeling of desperation and hopelessness that comes in the morning, leaving the person feeling trapped and chasing their demons. The singer offers a safe haven, a place where they can rise together in a morning glory, promising that anything and everything they could possibly want can be found together, without the need to resort to addiction. The refrain warns against going to the Old Rose Motel or the Midnight Hotel, implying that these are places of temptation and danger.

Overall, the lyrics of "Old Rose Motel" convey a message of hope and support for those struggling with addiction and pain, urging them to stay strong and find the strength to overcome their struggles with the help of others around them.

Потрясающая песня!!! Недели две не могу слезть с этого трека. Прекрасный вокал Рассела, приятные клавиши и талант Марка Кендалла.

Probably everyone who listen the album is agree with me that "Psycho City" is the most unheralded, underrated, unappreciated album ever. Nothing has changed last 19 years... still brilliantly masterpiece!

This cannot possibly be played loud enough. Track for track, this album kicks ass. The raw emotion and energy is amazing.
