Inside Out
Green Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Dry, the soul beneath coiled tines
Catching light, idle germs ignite
Drink in the day, perennial, stand and defy
Roots and stones

Turning the inside out
Under the harrow
Turning the inside outside

Furrow plow in tiller's keep
Wanders down into the marrow

Turning the inside out
Mining shadows
Turning the inside outside
Driving the harrow down
(Inside Out)
Into the fallow

(Inside Out)
Turning the inside outside

Overall Meaning

The song "Inside Out" by Pat Green is a classic country ballad about the painful process of letting go of someone you love. The opening lines of the song capture the complexity of this situation, as the singer explains that he is both glad that the relationship is over and simultaneously dreading the pain that will come from the loss. Overall, the song "Inside Out" is an emotional portrait of the pain of loss and the struggle to move on. It speaks to the universal theme of heartbreak and the ways in which it can turn our lives upside down, leaving us feeling inside out.

True true

@ryarod

I don't get the narcissism part. Each one seems to care quite a bit about Riley, and about the other emotions.

Disgust is hilarious. I wonder if they ever make a sequel with a pubescent Riley if they add new emotions like say Trust, Jealousy, Boredom, or Greed.

@alexanderfvarela

My man predicted it 8 years in advance with Boredom (ennui) and jealousy (envy) lol
