Hang Around
Gregory Douglass Lyrics

Jump to: Line by Line Meaning ↴

Free falling oh now where do i begin
Free falling ‘till the birds forget to sing
But I found you in a crowd of anguish
Standing on a solid ground

Chorus:
So true like you're holding onto something
Like you've been in love with me for centuries
Singing hang around for me
You've got to hang around for me
If I'm gonna hang around for you

Much better now lets take a look around
Much better now as if i'm fine somehow
Since i found you like a riddle answered
Over the divine brigade

Chorus:
So true like you're holding onto something
Like you've been in love with me for centuries
Singing hang around for me
You've got to hang around for me
If I'm gonna hang around for you

What was all the pain for
Well, hell if I know
And how much do I have in store
Hell if I know now I just don't know

You in a crowd of anguish
Standing on a solid ground

Chorus:
So true like you're holding on to something
Like you've been in love with me for centuries
Singing hang around for me
You've got to hang around for me

If I'm gonna hang around for you
If I'm gonna hang around for you
If I'm gonna hang around for you

The thing that makes this song so amazing to me is that it is so clearly about a specific person, yet it somehow evokes such a universal sense of the beautiful desperation of love and time.

A Truly Amazing Song! It's been a while since the last time I found an artist with a voice like this! I keep repeating it endlessly!

This song is absolutely amazing. I had the pleasure of meeting Gregory when he performed at a house concert in NH that I organized. What a nice, genuine guy with an amazing voice!

Strange how you discover music sometimes. This was a random CD in a box of 100 that I bought on a whim. In amongst a bunch of mediocre mix CDs, those terrible pop karaoke compilations, and some old pop music overstock, was this gem. Absolutely fell in love with this song the first time I heard it, which was about 5 minutes ago.

Still love this song almost 15 years later. <3
