On Ellen, Greyson revealed he had received piano lessons for the past 3 years, but had not undergone any formal vocal training. He cited Lady Gaga as his primary inspiration, stating, "I love how she's so different, and she takes her individuality and she takes her amazing talent that she has and she makes just great songs that are catchy and make you want to dance."
Greyson was on the show on May 26, 2010 again. He performed his own song "Broken Hearts". He got 10,000 dollar from the producers of the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Also Ellen told that Greyson is the first artist on her brand new label called eleveneleven and that they will make a record together.
As of 2014, Greyson is currently in the process of writing and recording his sophomore studio album.
On March 15, 2019 Chance released his sophomore album "portraits". He, himself, calls it his debut album because he had complete creative control on this album and he feels like it's what reflects him now, as an artist.

white roses
Greyson Chance Lyrics

Broken vows on our lips run dry
I see you out with your friends, you smile
It's funny how that goes, I haven't slept in a while
I never saw it coming
I thought we had it all
I feel you in those moments
Darling be careful with me
'Cause there's part of me that you don't know
Darling be gentle with me
When you tell me that you need to go
And if you should miss me, don't call me, don't tell me, just leave me alone
Because you cut me wide open left teardrops on all my white roses
'Cause you cut me wide open left teardrops on all my white roses
Same places on a Friday night
Holding glances but we're tongue tied
I'm with my friends, and it's hard to smile
It's crazy how that feels, I haven't slept in a while
I never saw it coming
I thought we had it all
I feel you in those moments
Those nights, held in your arms
Darling be careful with me
'Cause there's part of me that you don't know
Darling be gentle with me
When you tell me that you need to go
And if you should miss me, don't call me, don't tell me, just leave me alone
Because you cut me wide open left teardrops on all my white roses
'Cause you cut me wide open left teardrops on all my white roses
I want to believe that maybe it's just emotion
But I cannot see my life without you, those moments
So wild and free, blinded by love, devoted
But now it's just me, unspoken words, white roses
Darling be careful with me
'Cause there's part of me that you don't know
Darling be gentle with me
When you tell me that you need to go
And if you should miss me, don't call me, don't tell me, just leave me alone
Because you cut me wide open left teardrops on all my white roses
Greyson Chance's "White Roses" is a song about heartbreak that leaves a deep pain in the soul. The white roses signify purity, innocence, and untouched love, and the pastel sky symbolizes the memories and love from the past. The broken vows the singer refers to indicate a broken promise of never leaving each other, which has left a void in their heart. The singer sees their ex-partner out with friends and smiling, something they haven't been able to do. The evocative phrase "left teardrops on all my white roses" portrays the hurt and pain caused by the breakup, making the singer feel lost and shattered.
The song is ambiguous as to what caused the broken relationship. Still, the deep emotions and memories are shared, making it difficult to move on. The lyric, "I want to believe that maybe it's just emotion," denotes hope in the singer's heart that the situation is temporary and they will reconcile, but deep inside, they know there is no way back. The phrase "so wild and free, blinded by love, devoted" emphasizes the intensity of their connection, which made it hard to let go.
"White Roses" is a poignant song that resonates with anyone who's experienced heartbreak. The song's melancholic melody and touching lyrics tug at the listeners' hearts, conveying the depth of pain and sadness that comes with heartbreak. It's a beautiful song that reminds everyone that healing takes time, requires patience, and is essential to growth.

@sarayahclark4511
Wow this was beautiful. It shows how hard it is to accept yourself. You hurt yourself, but you also hurt others with the secrets you keep.
@sophmcamp
Don’t Exist this is so true
@tiyatayo4322
this is good
@vishnushankar7232
Greyson did mention that white roses was the most emotionally difficult song for him to perform in Portraits. It was based on an event from his life in 2018.
The song is still beautiful, isn't it? 😊
@seanlogue6374
I love how Greyson is playing the narrator, telling the story and watching it unfold
@RaueTaylorGudiel
idk but i felt like his telling his own story, specially after the main character walked to the light pole and just stood there by his side
@steadystudying
@John Days ohhhh, you know. I hadn't thought of that. It would kinda make sense because in interviews it sounded like his ex left him rather than the other way around. It was something unexpected. Perhaps there was societal or family pressure that caused his ex to walk away.
@sophmcamp
Raue Gudiel maybe he relates with both characters
