The Fire
Griffinilla Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Deep in the woods, there was a fire.
That burned with an evil desire.
Desire to feed on the pain.
A flame that would never retire.
A pyre that would drive you insane,
And it said...

"Why don't you cast yourself on me?"
"I promise you won't feel a thing"
"There's golden treasures underneath, you'll see"
"Now please, give yourself to me"

Deep in the woods the fire grew higher
The flesh would dissolve and expire
But the bones and the ashes remained
that cried out in vain
And it said...

"Why don't you cast yourself on me?"
"I promise you won't feel a thing"
"There's golden treasures underneath, you'll see"
"Now please, give yourself to me"

Deep in the woods, there's still a fire
That will never grow weary or tired
And draws closer and closer each day
And In bed when you start to perspire

Pray you don't hear that refrain
give yourself me...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Griffinilla's song The Fire tell the story of a fire that burns in the woods with an insatiable desire to feed on pain. The fire is described as a pyre that never retires, and it entices those who come close to give themselves to it. The fire promises that they will not feel any pain and that there are golden treasures beneath it.

As the fire grows higher, it consumes flesh and leaves only bones and ashes behind. The bones and ashes cry out in vain, still luring people to give themselves to the fire. The fire in the woods never grows tired or weary, and draws closer every day. The lyrics end with a warning to those who may hear the fire's call in their dreams, praying that they don't give themselves to it.

The lyrics of The Fire can be interpreted in various ways, but the most apparent interpretation is that the fire represents temptation. It lures people in with promises of riches and painless death, but ultimately leaves them with nothing but their bones and ashes. The lyrics could be warning against the dangers of giving in to temptation and making deals that seem too good to be true.

Some other interpretations could be that the fire symbolizes addiction, burning desires, or the destructive power of nature. Regardless of the interpretation, the lyrics are evocative and haunting, drawing the listeners in with their eerie melody and captivating storytelling.

I feel like the "Fire" represents depression, or really anything that like it, and the line "Now please, give yourself to me" represents when it turns into suicidal depression. "Deep in the woods, there was a fire, that will never grow weary or tired" means that it takes a lot to get through depression, or, the fire.

@Muttson

Having been at that point, I definitely see that. It's a terrible place to be and feels that way.

@nebullama8573

I agree. It takes a lot to go through depression, especially if it's something critical.

+Whsiky Horse This makes sense.
