Two Weeks
Grizzly Bear Lyrics
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Save up all the days
A routine malaise
Just like yesterday
I told you I would stay (oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh)
Would you always?
Maybe sometimes?
Take your time
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Think of all the ways
Momentary phase
Just like yesterday
I told you I would stay
Every time you try
Quarter half a mile
Just like yesterday
I told you I would stay (oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh)
Would you always?
Maybe sometimes?
Make it easy?
Take your time
Would you always?
Maybe sometimes?
Make it easy?
Take your time
Always, sometimes
Easy, time
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

The video for "Two Weeks" was directed by Patrick Daughters. It features the band members sitting on an altar at an empty church, singing along to the song as slowly their heads and faces start to glow, then sparks fly from their heads and ultimately their heads catch fire as the video ends. When interviewed by Amanda Petrusich, band singer Ed Droste expressed unhappiness for the music video, stating that the group weren't given permission to make video clips as the way they intended to make:
"We don't ever dictate our videos, which is why they're each so different. They're always almost the opposite of what I would've imagined [for] them, which is actually what's really fun. It's sort of like getting a remix back. It's like, "What part of the song, what essence of the song, is that artist gonna pick up on and use?" Take the "Knife" video, which was really out there as well-- it was like, we liked what those artists had done, and we said "You know what? Just do what you're gonna do and we'll release it."
Upon its release, "Two Weeks" was acclaimed by music critics, and many regarded it as a highlight of "Veckatimest". Pitchfork Media ranked the song at No. 162 in their "Top 500 Tracks of the 2000s" list. It was voted at No. 61 on Triple J's Hottest 100 for 2009. Stereogum cited it as the sixth best song of the group.
"Two Weeks" has gained popularity in YouTube, where its music video has over 14 million views. Das Racist references the song in the track "Free Jazzmatazz." They claim about their own song, "this is the best song ever. Better than 'Juicy' ... better than "Two Weeks" by Grizzly Bear. That's a pretty good song, right?"
Ed Droste told The Sun how Two Weeks came about: "Chris Bear (our drummer) and I were on a weekend trip to Cape Cod to play around with some song ideas and that one just came out of nowhere with Chris starting the piano line and myself quickly following with a vocal melody and lyrics." (Source Two Weeks Songfacts).
The Intro of the song was used in the Peugeot 5008 commercial in Europe in november 2009.

Duas Semanas
Salve-se todos os dias
Um turno de rotina
Assim como ontem
Eu disse que ficaria
Você poderia sempre
Talvez, às vezes
Ir com calma?
Leve o seu tempo
Pense em todas as formas
Fase momentânea
Assim como ontem
Eu disse que ficaria
Cada vez que você tenta
Bairro de meia milha
Assim como ontem
Eu disse que ficaria
Você poderia sempre
Talvez, às vezes
Ir com calma
Leve o seu tempo
Você poderia sempre
Talvez, às vezes
Ir com calma
Leve o seu tempo
Sempre, às vezes
Fácil, tempo...

Does this song make anyone else feel weird, yet you love it and can’t stop playing it?

@Zack Zallie The melody is in a major key, not a minor key.
Occam
lol its melancholic and a bit cynical for sure. But dark, no way.

@Zack Zallie apparently there was a TV show that paired this song with a horror scene.
Lots of songs use minor harmonics and dont sound scary. At least to me.
