The Groovie Ghoulies were a punk rock'n'roll band from Sacramento, California consisting of Kepi, Roach, and Scampi. They were around for many years and committed themselves to being constantly, dedicatedly touring the world spreading Ghoulish Love. They broke up in May of 2007.
Every show is treated as an event. Since 1997 they have done 7 U.S. tours, 2 Canadian tour, and 3 European tours.
Beyond their B-movie, rock, and punk influences, the Ghoulies make the most of the touring life. They have forsaken the tired rock stereotypes of drugs and self-destruction to go to Mount Rushmore, Graceland, Roswell, or hang out with other bands.
Although it's nothing like a Kiss or Rob Zombie show, the Ghoulies decorate the stage with a few toys and things to provide themselves and the crowd a level of comfort and familiarity. Prizes are often thrown, requests are often taken.

Normal
Groovie Ghoulies Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
and normal is a million miles away
I look at my reflection kinda likin' what I see
and normal is a million miles away
We'll never fit in
I know it
the record will probably show it
let's throw it
we'll go the way we go
and just let other people know
I'm feelin' like a creature in a black lagoon
and normal is a million miles away
I'm feelin' like a critter howlin' at the moon
and normal is a million miles away
We'll never fit in
I know it
the record will probably show it
the contest is over
let's throw it
we'll go the way we go
and where we go we'll never know
I'm drowning in my feelings like I'm in a whirlpool
and normal is a million miles away
but suddenly I'm down the street and everything is cool
and normal is a million miles away
We'll never fit in
I know it
the record will probably show it
the contest is over
let's throw it
We'll go the way we go
and where we go we'll never know
The Groovie Ghoulies' song Normal is about feeling like an outsider in a society where everyone is expected to conform to certain standards or norms. The singer is looking at himself in the mirror and wondering what is wrong with him because he doesn't feel like he fits in. He recognizes that "normal" is something that is a million miles away from him.
The song talks about how the band will never fit in, and they know it. The singer believes that the contest is over, so they should just throw it. They will go their own way and let other people know about it. They will never know where they are going, but they will keep moving because that is who they are.
The lyrics also describe the feeling of being like a creature in a black lagoon or a critter howling at the moon. They feel like they are drowning in their feelings but suddenly everything is cool and normal is a million miles away. This suggests that they have found a sense of acceptance within their own identity, even if it is not what society considers "normal".
