The band debuted in 1996 with the record, Por Puro Amor, which sold over a million copies. The album featured singles such as "Vete", "Quiero", and "Te Aprovechas." Other subsequent albums were successful.
In 2000, they teamed up with AB Quintanilla (of Selena and Kumbia Kingz fame) which resulted in the 2001 release "Soy Así", with "Ay! Papacito (Uy! Daddy)" released as the lead single, they reached a bigger and broader audience managing to break through within the U.S. Latin radio and Spanish Speaking TV music channels and garnering a substantial amount of radio airplay.
The band's sound by then, it was less focussed in the Norteño aspect and more emphasis on merging more US Latin American influences like tropical, urban, and Latin Pop.
In 2002, Alicia Villareal's profile had become so big in México, that she decided to part ways with Límite few months into the promotion of "Soy Así", and backed up by a multi-national Record Company and in the middle of various gossip-fodder-scandals she released her debut album in 2002, to a considerable amount of success. Within a couple of years, Villarreal's success would decline, while simultaneously Límite tried their hand at continuing playing with several different vocalists, both female and male.
Alma Rebelde
Grupo Límite Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
es porque el mundo me hecho a si
es que despues de haber sufrido aquel engaño
se me vuelto desconfiado el corazón
Hay cosas que el amor no entiende
y es donde pierde la razón
por eso quiero que me entiendas
tu me quieras
y me devuela la pasión
yo tengo el alma rebelde
yo tengo el alma rebelde
yo tengo el alma rebelde
pero guardo la esperanza
de que tu amor me de al fin
la ganas de ser feliz
que me devuelvas la vida
todo el cielo y las carisias
yo tengo el alma rebelde
yo tengo el alma rebelde
yo tengo el alma rebelde
pero guardo la esperanza
de que tu me hagas feliz
quiero volver a sentir
que todo el tiempo peridido
fue tan solo un ensayo
mientras llegabas tú (alma rebelde)
mientras llegabas tú (alma rebelde)
The lyrics to Grupo Límite's song "Alma Rebelde" convey a sense of rebellion and mistrust towards the world, stemming from a painful betrayal that has left the singer's heart hardened. The opening lines suggest that others view the singer as rebellious, but it is because of the way the world has treated them. The betrayal they experienced has made them cautious and distrustful of others, especially in matters of love. The lyrics suggest that love can be irrational and confusing, but the singer is hopeful that their partner will understand and be patient with them as they try to overcome their rebellious nature.
The chorus repeats the phrase "yo tengo el alma rebelde" (I have a rebellious soul) three times, emphasizing the central theme of the song. However, the singer also expresses hope and a desire for happiness, believing that their partner can help bring them back to life and make up for lost time. The song ends with the repetition of "mientras llegabas tú" (while you were coming), implying that the singer had been waiting for this person to come into their life and help them overcome their rebellious nature.
Overall, "Alma Rebelde" is a powerful song that conveys a sense of pain, mistrust, and hope. It speaks to the universal human experience of feeling hurt by the world but still hoping for happiness and love.
