Founded in 2005 by Manu Ferrón and Juan Rodríguez, aka "J" from succesful spanish indie band "Los Planetas". Other members are guitar player Víctor Lapido ("091", "Lagartija Nick"), bass player Miguel López ("Los Planetas") and Antonio Lomas, drums ("Lapido").
Their first album "Alegato Meridional" (El Ejército Rojo, 2006) is a hymn to the south, the mid-day (slow-tempo) activities and the joy of life. Sung in spanish with a strong accent from their hometown, Granada, the lyrics are mainly simple stories about meeting friends in the street, enjoying lazyness at home and what life is made of under the southern sun, with a common and easy language and a strong influence of their beloved american southern folk and country-ish music.
In that way, Grupo de Expertos Solynieve also covers tracks from other latitudes: "Ballad of the easy Rider" (The Byrds), "Personalitá Empírica" (Franco Battiato), "Déjame vivir con alegría" (Vainica Doble), "Sureños" (Silvio) aswell as many other live performances with songs from Gram Parsons.

The CD included the Opendisc technology which allowed to connect to the internet and it was possible to download also two extra tracks, "El 11" (with a description of the whole trajectory of the #11 line bus in Granada) and "Reggae-Búho"
"Alegato Meridional" was preceeded by the single "Se ve que hay calidad" (El Ejército Rojo, 2006), including "24 hs al día" and the mentioned Franco Battiato cover, sung in italian and spanish and titled "Personalidad empírica" as B-sides.

In Grupo de Expertos Solynieve's song Ola de Calor, the lyrics describe a person's feelings in the midst of a heatwave, waiting for a better time to come. The song starts with "Sopla el viento desde el sur, una ola de calor" which means "The wind is blowing from the south, a heatwave." The singer finds himself in August in Granada, with nothing much to do. He feels like he has nothing to lose because he has nothing. He talks to the shadows on the wall as he waits for something to happen.
The chorus "Te esperaré, hablando con las sombras de la pared. Si te quieres venir, te prometo darte todo lo que tengo, guardado para ti. Y si te vienes, lo guardo todo para ti" means "I will wait for you, talking to the shadows on the wall. If you want to come, I promise to give you everything I have, saved for you. And if you come, I will keep everything for you." The singer is waiting for someone to come and give him a reason to hold on to hope and to believe that there is something better waiting for him.
The lyrics of Ola de Calor paint a picture of a person who is tired of waiting and hoping for a better life, but is still holding on to the belief that things will eventually get better. The song tells us that even in the darkest times, there is always hope and love waiting for us.
