1) Guardian was formed in 1982 by bassist David Bach, vocalist Paul Cawley, and and drummer, Rikk Hart. They originally named themselves "Fusion" and added David Caro on guitars. They were signed to Enigma records in 1985 and changed their name to Gardian, soon after replaced Caro with Tony Palacios on guitar. They released two demos under the Gardian name called Fusion (released 1984) and Voyager (released 1987). Their debut album "First Watch" was released in 1989 under the final name change "Guardian", but shortly after Cawley and Hart left the band due to the rigors of non-stop touring.
In 1990, Cawley was replaced by Jamie Rowe (formerly of "Tempest") as the new vocalist and Hart was replaced by Karl Ney on drums. This lineup remained consistant throughout their last English studio album "Bottle Rocket" in 1997. However, in 2002 Guardian released "Dime", their 3rd Spanish effort, yet with all new material. David Bach could not be a part of this album due to time constraints. Their 1993 album "Miracle Mile" was their most popular commercially successful album.
In the words of Jamie Rowe, "There will be another Guardian album." Let's hope so.

My Queen Esther
Guardian Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
She's a bona fide star
Said I spoke to a friend
Who wants to know how you are
With a shake in her voice
She said, "I'm doing ok."
With a shake in her voice
She said, "I can't live this way."
She wants to laugh but still she cries
Still she cries
Spoke to Esther today
She said it's hard to play queen
Though she fought it at first
This pain's become her routine
And she wants to believe
But the image won't play
And she wants to believe
But that's a long time away
Kingdoms collide
As she tries to rule the world inside
She starts to cry
Take that crown off my Queen Esther
It's too much for anyone to bear
Don't hide your face Queen Esther
My King says he'll meet you anywhere
He says it's ok
He knows your pain
He says it's ok
He'll show you the way
He'll take your pain
He'll show you the way
Esther called me today
She's a bona fide star
Said I spoke to a friend
Who wants to know how you are
PSALM 105:4 - JAMES 4:7-8 JOHN 3:16
The song "My Queen Esther" by Guardian revolves around a fictional character named Esther who is referred to as "Queen" by the singer. Esther is struggling with her life and the expectations of her being a queen. In the opening verse, the singer mentions that Esther called him and she has become a star. She spoke to a friend who asked about her well-being, to which she replied that she is doing okay but isn't content with the way her life is going. Esther is conflicted and doesn't understand why she desires to laugh, but cannot help but cry. The second verse reveals that Esther found it hard to play queen initially, but now the pain has become a part of her daily routine. She wants to believe that things will get better, but the image of her being a queen doesn't fit her persona. Esther is caught up in the chaos of trying to rule the world inside her, and she can't bear it any longer; thus, she starts to cry.
The chorus is a plea from the singer to Esther to take off her crown and stop hiding her face. He tells her that no one can bear such a burden and that his King will meet her anywhere. He assures her that it's okay to be in pain and that the King will take it away and guide her. The song seems to be an ode to those who carry more burdens than they can bear and are struggling to find their way. It's a reminder that there is always hope, and one should seek comfort in their faith.
