The song brabant has been nominated as (new) provincional anthem.
In June 2009, Guus Meeuwis will perform in the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven for the fourth year in a row.
If you like this, may I recommend Andre Hazes version?

Mijn kraag staat omhoog
Het is hier ijskoud
Maar gelukkig wel droog
De dagen zijn kort hier
De nacht begint vroeg
De mensen zijn stug
Als ik naar mijn hotel loop
Na een donkere dag
Dan voel ik mijn huissleutel
Diep in mijn zak
Ik loop hier alleen
In een te stille stad
Ik heb eigenlijk nooit last
Van heimwee gehad
Maar de mensen ze slapen
De wereld gaat dicht
En dan denk ik aan Brabant
Want daar brandt nog licht
Ik mis hier de warmte
Van een dorpscafé
De aanspraak van mensen
Met een zachte G
Ik mis zelfs het zeiken
Op alles om niets
Was men maar op Brabant
Zo trots als een Fries
In het zuiden vol zon
Woon ik samen met jou
Het is daarom dat ik zo
Van Brabanders hou
Ik loop hier alleen
In een te stille stad
Ik heb eigenlijk nooit last
Van heimwee gehad
Maar de mensen ze slapen
De wereld gaat dicht
En dan denk ik aan Brabant
Want daar brandt nog licht
De Peel en de Kempen
En de Meierij
Maar het mooiste aan Brabant
Ben jij, dat ben jij
Ik loop hier alleen
In een te stille stad
Ik heb eigenlijk nooit last
Van heimwee gehad
Maar de mensen ze slapen
De wereld gaat dicht
En dan denk ik aan Brabant
Want daar brandt nog licht
Ik loop hier alleen
In een te stille stad
Ik heb eigenlijk nooit last
Van heimwee gehad
Maar de mensen ze slapen
De wereld gaat dicht
En dan denk ik aan Brabant
Want daar brandt nog licht
En dan denk ik aan Brabant
Want daar brandt nog licht
En dan denk ik aan Brabant
Want daar brandt nog licht
The song "Brabantse" by Guus Meeuwis is a heartfelt tribute to the Dutch province of Brabant. The opening lines describe the cold and desolate atmosphere of the city, with only one bar for company. Although the singer has never experienced homesickness before, in this city, he longs for the warmth and familiarity of a village pub and the sociable, friendly people who speak with a soft G.
The lyrics also speak about the singer's memories of his hometown and his partner, who he lives with in the sunny south of Brabant. The song emphasizes the beauty of the Brabant region, particularly the Peel and the Kempen, but the most important thing about Brabant is his partner, who makes it feel like home.
Overall, the song is a touching exploration of the longing for home and belonging, and how the spirit of Brabant and his partner brings light to the darkness of the city.

Sort of translation in english ..
A warm hat on my head, my collar is up. Its freezing out here, but luckily it's dry. The days are so short here, the night begins soon. The people are stiff, n there is only one pub. When i walk to my hotel, after a dark n sad day. I feel deep in my pocket, my frontdoor homekey
When I walk here alone, in a to quiet town. I never before, felt as homesick as now. But the people are sleeping, the world is closed tight. Then i think of Brabant, because there still burns light.
I miss here the warmth of a village pub, and the dialect of my people will give me goosebumps. I miss just the whyning about everything and on, you can be proud of Brabant, as proud as you want. In the south full of sunshine, home, together with you. Thats just why my love for Brabanders soo huge.
I walk here alone, in a to quiet town. I never before felt as homesick as now. But the people are sleeping n the world is closed tight. Then i'll think of Brabant, 'cause there still burns light.
"De peel" and "De kempen" and "De meierij" but the prettiest of Brabant that's you, that is you
I walk here alone, in a to quiet town. I never before felt as homesick as now. But the people are sleeping, n the world is closed tight. Then i think of Brabant, because there still burns light.
Then I think of Brabant, because there still burns liiiiight.

@donbrabo

@dikkertjefap9709
@oxytocin6806
Bob Howat je kan al goed Nederlands.
@Thomanski
@panther6958
@sunnsight
Almost flawless...👍👍👏💛
