Our House
HI-LO & Alok Lyrics

Father wears his Sunday best
Mother's tired, she needs a rest
The kids are playing up downstairs
Sister's sighing in her sleep (ah)
Brother's got a date to keep, he can't hang around

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our

Our house, it has a crowd
There's always something happening
And it's usually quite loud
Our mum she's so house-proud
Nothing ever slows her down and a mess is not allowed

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our
Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our
(Something tells you that you've got to move away from it)

Father gets up late for work
Mother has to iron his shirt
Then she sends the kids to school
Sees them off with a small kiss (ah)
She's the one they're going to miss in lots of ways

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our

I remember way back then when everything was true and when
We would have such a very good time, such a fine time
Such a happy time
And I remember how we'd play, simply waste the day away
Then we'd say nothing would come between us
Two dreamers

Father wears his Sunday best
Mother's tired, she needs a rest
The kids are playing up downstairs
Sister's sighing in her sleep
Brother's got a date to keep, he can't hang around

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our
Our house, was our castle and our keep
Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, that was where we used to sleep

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our street, our house.

Overall Meaning

In the lyrics of "Our House" by HI-LO & Alok, the song paints a vivid picture of domestic life within a bustling household. The song begins by describing the different family members - father, mother, and siblings - each fulfilling their roles and responsibilities in their shared home. The father is depicted as dressing up for work, the mother as tired but dedicated to her family, and the kids causing a commotion downstairs while the sister sleeps and the brother heads out for a date.

The chorus repeatedly emphasizes the centrality of their house in the midst of their neighborhood, portraying it as a lively and vibrant hub where something is always happening. The mother is portrayed as meticulous and proud of her home, ensuring that everything is in order and a mess is never allowed to linger. The lyrics convey a sense of warmth and busyness within the household, with a sense of community and connection.

The second verse delves deeper into the daily routine of the family, with the mother ironing the father's shirt and sending the kids off to school with affection. There is a bittersweet tone as the song reflects on the passage of time and the inevitable changes that come with growing up. The chorus reiterates the theme of the house being a central anchor for the family, a place of comfort and security amidst the chaos of everyday life.

The nostalgic bridge reminisces about carefree moments of the past, when the family would spend joyful and carefree days together. The lyrics evoke a sense of nostalgia for simpler times and the unbreakable bond between family members. The song concludes with a repetition of the chorus, underscoring the enduring significance of their house as a sanctuary and a place of togetherness.Overall, "Our House" celebrates the love, memories, and sense of belonging that a family home can provide, capturing the essence of domestic life and the connections that bind us together.

HI-LO has never been known for very complex beats, I think people are forcing their idea of Oliver Heldens onto his identity. He didn't make HI-LO just to produce more of the same music.

@jonas-mo4wb

Exactly.

@33Preston33

It's great to see people who actually understand why artists like Oliver Heldens create alias's in the first place! Lol

See Dillion Francis aka DJ Hanzel for another example of this... 2 separate styles, and both extremely FAVORABLE!

@simoneboldini1545

Those who say this is garbage are still listening commercial Edm from Vinai and hope that spinnin will restart releasing big room music. This pieces are absolute bombs if you are in a club. If you don't enjoy this track you probably have never been in a club.
Cheers
