This project was very popular right from the start and entered the charts. Originally inspired by Germanic occultism and culture through the Neo-Folk music scene, founder Andrea was involved with counter culture artists such as Boyd Rice, Patrick Leagas and Tony Wakeford, thus Hagalaz' Runedance was, in the beginning, linked to this genre, even referred to as the most selling Neo-Folk album. Electro masters Ulver were also collaborating on a few songs. The lyrics were based on modern themes, cleverly disguised with mythical metaphors.
The band dissolved many years ago and Andrea moved on and turned to her darker tunes and urban art again. None of her other projects have relations to the Hagalazβ Runedance theme, and people should not claim otherwise!
βIβm too controversial and free-spirited to be religious, if you know what I mean. I found out soon that Pagan religion blinds people just like any other religion. Donβt connect me to it. Iβm a free artist, I love my real life and personal freedom. I have evolved to amazing things and people should do the same. β
βI like to start new ideas, I love to renew myself! I donβt want to have a label on my forehead and I keep my personal spiritual ideas separated from my artistic expressions. I need artistic freedom and I only do things that give me energy. These days I work as a full-time artist with music, films, novel writings and acting and I love my job. I even work with famous film-directors and itβs awesome!
I like to exlore whatever new things come to my mind and Iβm not afraid to stand alone. And I know people often feel threatened by such an individual, but hey, I rather am hated for who I am than loved for what Iβm not. And I so encourage everyone out there to do the same. Just be yourself, and never stop asking questions! β
Raven Night
Hagalaz' Runedance Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I feel my nature waking inside
Would you look towards me?
Would you dare to enter the threshold to my mind?
Can you see me dancing?
A silent voice singing for you
Hear my Raven call
Lost is but a dream fading
And soon I'm calling out again
Would you come to release me?
Would you tear the icy chains from my skin?
In the song "Raven Night" by Hagalaz' Runedance, the singer portrays herself as a creature of nature who has been lost in the neon twilight of a modern, urban environment. Through her lyrics, it becomes clear that she longs to be freed from the constraints of this world and to embrace her true nature once again. The opening lines of the song, "Lost in the neon twilight, I feel my nature waking inside," capture this inner struggle and suggest that the singer is on the cusp of a spiritual awakening.
The singer then goes on to ask if the listener is willing to follow her into this otherworldly realm. She uses imagery of a raven, a bird often associated with mystery and magic, to call out to the listener and entice them to join her. The line "Can you see me dancing? A silent voice singing for you" suggests that the singer is attempting to communicate with the listener on a deeper, more spiritual level. She wants them to feel the same sense of liberation that she experiences when she loses herself in her dance.

As someone who's felt a special connection to the raven her whole life (such a wonderful, mystical bird!) and as someone who loves to read everything about them--from the famous Poe poem to Native American myths to the Norse folklore of my Swedish ancestors, I must say, this song is AWESOME! :) Thank you so much for posting.

Even for us in Islam it taught the humans to bury each other because a crow/raven killed the other and he hid the body under the dirt I just love crows and ravens
