On her full length album, DIORAMA, Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Hailey Wojcik (VOY-chek) explores the many meanings of that word. Part theatre, part museum exhibit, each song is a musically unique and detailed glimpse at a life. The album was produced by Dan Romer
(Ingrid Michaelson, Jenny Owen Youngs) and makes use of a wide range of instrumentation, from Indian banjo to mellotron to recorded samples of animal noises, as well as strumstick, horns, ukulele and guitars.
While attending college in Michigan, Wojcik studied creative writing, a background that is evidenced in her songwriting. She identifies with literary protagonists of Kafka and Salinger in "Samsa Morning" and "Holden Caulfield," respectively.
The closing song on the album, "Model Aeroplane," is a duet she cowrote with legendary hardcore punk vocalist and Touch and Go Records founder, Tesco Vee of the Meatmen. The unlikely pair met while neighbors in Michigan, and are currently working on further
collaborations.
Wojcik is the child of zookeepers, an experience she recounts in, "Raised in a Zoo.”
"Amnesia," a circus‐y song consisting of only ukulele, vocals and hand percussion, deals with the point in a relationship where the best option seems to be taking a blunt object to one another's craniums to erase the memories of things that have been said, and start over.
"Anglerfish" is a song for jilted lovers everywhere ‐ its upbeat melody belies tongue‐in‐cheek bitter lyrics such as "I hope he gives you syphilis and you don't notice it until it creeps into your brain. Then, which one of us would be insane?"

I don't know what does your Saturday look like
Let's find out
Cause here's an open palm and here's an open heart
And your guess is good as mine to tell each one apart
But I guess it would be fine to just hold both out
CHORUS
This box of night crawlers this bucket of Christmas lights
And the chance is slim and none that you got a one line right
Cause I think I'll be fine
If I just ride this train all night
I don't know if that two A.M. palm reading could have gone any faster
But I guess that I scared her when I knocked on her door covered in fake blood
So she talked to me with the timbre of a local sportscaster
And I played the part of Noah hearing word of the great flood
REPEAT CHORUS
'Cause I like to watch the passing scene cinematographically
The faces on the passing train
Flashing by me frame by frame by frame
REPEAT CHORUS
'Cause these rows of empty orange and yellow seats
Cheer me with their pumpkinteeth
Make me forget about you
Almost forget, I mean
And anyway you'd think a psychic would've known it's Halloween
The lyrics of Hailey Wojcik's song "Pumpkinteeth" tell the narrative of a person who is damaged by a recent breakup, however, humorously and earnestly trying to connect with the person they are missing. The song starts with the singer admitting that they are feeling lonely and would be open to any romantic prospect when they sing, "I don't know how many mushrooms I'd have to eat to find you attractive." The singer then talks about how they don't know what their partner's Saturday looks like but they would like to find out. The admission indicates the singer's heartfelt desire to connect with their partner and get back together.
The chorus of the song is about the singer's inability to solve their dilemma and how they are stuck. The singer sings about being tangibly lost in a confusing world of colored lines, night crawlers, and Christmas lights. They recognize that they have little chance of successfully conveying what they feel to the other person in a single line. Nonetheless, the singer is willing to stay on this train all night long to see where it takes them.
Later in the song, the singer reflects on an experience they had with a palm reader at 2 am. The palm reading moment heightens the atmosphere of weirdness and uncertainty that defines the singer's life currently. The song ends on a note of acceptance and resilience as the singer finds solace in the empty seats featuring "pumpkinteeth" because they enable them to almost forget about the person they're missing.

I don't know how many mushrooms I'd have to eat to find you attractive
I am uncertain about how much I would need to consume to make you appealing
I don't know what does your Saturday look like
I am unaware of your plans for the upcoming weekend
Let's find out
Let's explore and discover together
Cause here's an open palm and here's an open heart
I am offering my sincerity and affection
And your guess is good as mine to tell each one apart
It may be challenging to distinguish between the two
But I guess it would be fine to just hold both out
Perhaps it would be acceptable to present both to you
And I'm somewhere in this tangle of colored lines
I am lost in the complexity of my thoughts and emotions
This box of night crawlers this bucket of Christmas lights
Metaphors for the entangled mess I feel inside
And the chance is slim and none that you got a one line right
It is unlikely that you can understand how I feel with just one line
Cause I think I'll be fine
I believe I will be okay
If I just ride this train all night
If I keep moving forward without overthinking my situation
I don't know if that two A.M. palm reading could have gone any faster
I am unsure if my fortune-telling session could have been any quicker
But I guess that I scared her when I knocked on her door covered in fake blood
I may have terrified her when I arrived looking like I was bleeding
So she talked to me with the timbre of a local sportscaster
Her manner of speaking was similar to that of a sports announcer
And I played the part of Noah hearing word of the great flood
I felt like I was hearing news of a disaster
Cause I like to watch the passing scene cinematographically
I enjoy observing my surroundings through a cinematic lens
The faces on the passing train
The people riding on the train I am on
Flashing by me frame by frame by frame
Moving rapidly, almost like individual frames in a movie reel
These rows of empty orange and yellow seats
The vacant chairs around me are orange and yellow in color
Cheer me with their pumpkinteeth
The bright colors of the seats bring me some joy
Make me forget about you
They help me temporarily push aside thoughts of you
Almost forget, I mean
At least, until I remind myself of you again
And anyway you'd think a psychic would've known it's Halloween
It is surprising that the fortune-teller did not realize it was the holiday

I think this is my favorite song of hers that I've heard so far. The video though, is strange. Also I like that she's a singer who actually looks like a normal human and not like a barbie.
