No Face
Haley Heynderickx Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Face me
Face me entirely
Tell me
Tell me what's wrong here
Is it the bridge of my hair
Or the back of my skin
Is it the pole of my hips
That you couldn't fold in
Is it the bridge between worlds
That makes you feel alone

Well I wish that I had known
You're alone
Well I wish that I had known

Face me
Face me entirely
Tell me
Tell me what's wrong here
Is it the bridge of my hair
Or the back of my skin
Is it the pole of my hips
That you couldn't fold in
Is it the bridge between worlds
That makes you feel alone

Well I wish that I had known
You're alone
Well I wish that I had known

Is it the bridge of my hair
Or the back of my skin
Is it the pole of my hips
That you couldn't fold in
Is it the bridge between worlds
That makes you feel alone

Well I wish that I had known

You're alone
Well I wish that I had known

Overall Meaning

The song "No Face" by Haley Heynderickx is a melancholic yet empowering track about a person who feels alienated and disconnected from the world around them. The lyrics speak to the singer's desire to understand why someone they care about is feeling alone, and their willingness to confront their fears and insecurities in order to bridge the gap between them. The repeated refrain of "face me, face me entirely" echoes this sentiment, as the singer seeks to understand every part of the person they are addressing in order to connect with them on a deeper level.

The repeated questions about different parts of the body, such as "the bridge of my hair" and "the pole of my hips," suggest a desire for intimacy and connection that goes beyond surface level appearances. The mention of the "bridge between worlds" adds a mystical and existential dimension to the song, hinting at the singer's own sense of dislocation and search for deeper meaning in their own life.

Ultimately, "No Face" is a powerful anthem of empathy and understanding, as the singer reaches out to someone who feels alone and isolated, offering a listening ear and a loving heart in the hopes of creating a sense of connection and belonging.

As a grown ass man, the first time I heard this song, It had me full on sobbing. I don't mean just tears running freely down my cheeks, I mean the way kids cry - with the voice and everything. I hadn't cried like that since I was, in fact, a kid. This is some powerful shit.

I think at some point later on in life, we all need to weep like a child; as if it were the first time again
