In 2018 they headlined several tours in mainland Europe and the UK and released two standalone singles "Crown" and "Fugitive". Early in 2019 they toured in the UK supporting The Faim and Chapel and appeared at Rock for People. Halflives self-assigned the mission to create a space where everyone is invited to take a break from how messed up the world is and embrace who they are without any compromise. In vocalist Linda Battilani’s words, "some days it will still feel like everything sucks, but some other days I’ll stand on top of the mountain, and it’s those days I want to live for."

You made the rules and got me stuck
I'm your victim and I like it, I like it, I like it
I wish I knew, I wish I knew
You were a hurricane
You came with all your mess and look
What I got, it′s everywhere, everywhere
I guess I knew, I guess I knew
You were possibly insane
You broke into my house and never
Got out, don't you care, don't you care
That you got me running for my life
And you lie looking in my eyes
I′m walking on the edge of your knife
But you don′t give a fuck
You made the rules and got me stuck
I'm your victim and I like it, I like it, I like it
But you don′t give a fuck
I play your game and I still suck
I'm your victim and I like it, I like it, I like it, yeah, yeah
You drag me down, you drag me down
And I think I like to let you
I feel you from the blood inside of my mouth when I′m awake, I'm awake
Believe me now, believe me now
When I say you′re see through and now I know
That to save myself I should let it go
Don't you care, don't you care?
That you got me running for my life
And you lie looking in my eyes
I′m walking on the edge of your knife
But you don′t give a fuck
You made the rules and got me stuck
I'm your victim and I like it, I like it, I like it
But you don′t give a fuck
I play your game and I still suck
I'm your victim and I like it, I like it, I like it, yeah, yeah
I like it, yeah, yeah
I′m your victim and I like it
I'm your victim and I like it, I like it, I like it, yeah, yeah
You′re the spark and I'm the gasoline
I'm the victim to your guillotine
You push me to the edge ′cause you don′t care about me
Won't you end me now?
But you don′t give a fuck
You made the rules and got me stuck
I'm your victim and I like it, I like it, I like it
But you don′t give a fuck
I play your game and I still suck
I'm your victim and I like it, I like it, I like it, yeah, yeah
I like it, yeah, yeah
I′m your victim and I like it
I'm your victim and I like it, I like it, I like it, yeah, yeah
The lyrics of Halflives’s song Victim describe a toxic and possibly abusive relationship. The singer seems to be aware that they are being manipulated and mistreated by their partner, but they still find themselves drawn to them. The line “You made the rules and got me stuck / I’m your victim and I like it” reveals the power dynamic between the two and the fact that the singer, despite feeling like a victim, enjoys being under the control of their partner.
The chorus, with the repetition of “But you don’t give a fuck / I’m your victim and I like it, I like it, I like it” highlights the singer’s conflicting feelings. They feel trapped, but at the same time, they are drawn to the danger and excitement of the relationship. The line “You’re the spark and I’m the gasoline / I’m the victim to your guillotine” reveals just how dangerous this relationship is and how the singer is aware of the risk they are taking by staying with their partner.
Overall, the lyrics of Victim offer a powerful examination of the psychological dynamics of toxic relationships. The singer finds themselves trapped in a cycle of abuse and mistreatment, but they cannot bring themselves to leave because they feel both drawn to and controlled by their partner.
