1. Hanson is an American pop rock band from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The band consists of guitarist and vocalist Isaac Hanson (born November 17, 1980) pianist and vocalist Taylor Hanson (born March 14, 1983), and drummer and vocalist Zac Hanson (born October 22, 1985). Their work has spanned many different genres, including rock, blues, folk, and pop. They are most noted for their Grammy-nominated 1997 hit single, โMMMBop.โ Their 1997 album Middle of Nowhere (the bandโs third recorded album and first major studio album, also nominated for a Grammy) was met with critical acclaim and went on to achieve multi-platinum status. The groupโs subsequent major effort, This Time Around showcased the brothersโ considerable talent and artistic growth, receiving wide critical acclaim for its bluesy/classic-rock and soulful pop harmonies. The album failed to repeat the commercial success of Middle of Nowhere however, only achieving gold status. The album has since been considered a trend-setter and precursor for such acts as Michelle Branch, John Mayer, Avril Lavigne, Paramore, Vanessa Carlton and Eisley.
After many promotional and artistic conflicts with Island/Def Jam, Hanson split from the label in 2003 and started their own label, 3CG Records. In 2004, they released their third major studio album, Underneath, independently. The album reached #1 on Billboardโs Independent Album Chart and has since been noted as one of the biggest-selling independent albums of all time. The single โPenny & Meโ reached #2 on Billboardโs Top 200. Like This Time Around, Underneath was well-received and well-reviewed for its more mature classic rock/pop sound.
The band continues to have a dedicated fan base and Internet presence, and recently completed a tour of college campuses, showing a documentary, Strong Enough to Break, made about their struggle to form their own label and release Underneath. The documentary http://www.last.fm/music/Hanson was also shown at the Hollywood Film Festival in October 2006.
A live album (The Best of Hanson; Live & Electric), recorded in Melbourne on the Australian leg of the โUnderneath: Live & Electricโ tour was released in October 2005.
The band released of their fourth major studio album, The Walk in North America on July 24th, 2007. They have released a second documentary, titled Taking The Walk as a continuation of their struggles and successes of writing, recording and producing their own album. After spending some time in Africa, Hanson released a single โGreat Divideโ for World AIDS Day, with 100% of the download proceeds going to the Perinatal HIV Unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, South Africa.
During the making of The Walk, Hanson made a trip to Africa to record some tracks with the African Children's Choir. They were so inspired by their experiences there that they have since teamed up with TOMS Shoes--a california-based company who donates a pair of shoes for each pair sold to a child in poverty who does not have shoes.
In order to raise awareness for this charity and the daily things we take for granted, as well as small and impactful ways to help those in need, Hanson organizes one mile barefoot walks before each of their shows. As of 10/30/08 they have walked a total of 100 miles together with their fans. They are donating $1 for each person who walks with them to one of 5 causes to help children and monthers in Africa battling AIDS and poverty. The fans are invited to organize their own walks and Hanson will also donate a dollar to whatever cause they are walking for. The goal is to Walk around the World and as of 2/4/2009 have walked 19,236 miles and have 5,666 to go.

Hanson released their 5th studio album entitled "Shout It Out" on June 8, 2010. Leading up to this release they performed all of their albums at 5 sold out shows at the Gramercy Theater in New York City.
2. Hanson is a funk rock band formed in 1973 by reggae musician Junior Marvin. The group released two albums - "Now Hear This" (1973) and "Magic Dragon" (1974) before disbanding in 1974.
Teach Your Children
Hanson Lyrics

Must have a code that you can live by
And so become yourself
Because the past is just a good-bye
Teach your children well
Their father's hell
Will slowly go by
The one they pick
The one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why
If they told you, you would cry
So just look at them and sigh
And know they love you
And know they love you.
And you, of tender years
Don't know the fears
That your elders grew by
So please help them with your youth
They seek the truth
Before they can die.
(Can you hear and do you care
And can't you see we must be free
To teach our children what you believe in
Make a world that we can believe in.)
Teach your parents well
Their children's hell
Will slowly go by
And feed them on your dreams
The one they pick
The one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why
If they told you, you would cry
So just look at them and sigh
And know they love you
And know thay love you
And know thay love you.
The song "Teach Your Children" by Hanson is a classic folk-inspired tune that emphasizes the importance of passing on knowledge and wisdom from generation to generation. The lyrics make it clear that life is full of challenges, but we must arm ourselves with a moral code to live by, developing a strong sense of self in the process. The past is unchangeable; we can only look forward and move on. The song then exhorts parents to teach their children well the values that will lead them to a brighter future.
The lyrics suggest that fathers may have had to endure much hardship in the past. If they fail to pass on their wisdom, their children may repeat their mistakes, continuing the cycle of despair. Instead, they should share their dreams with their children, allowing them to choose a path that resonates with their spirit. They should also never question the choices their children make, choosing to love them unconditionally instead.
In the second verse, the song addresses the younger generation. The youth, being inexperienced, may not always understand the trials and tribulations that their elders have undergone. Therefore, it's essential to help them while they can, and together, they can seek the truth before it's too late.
In conclusion, the song is a call to action, asking that we teach each other well the lessons that we have learned in life. It's a timeless message that speaks to the importance of communication, understanding, and, above all, love.

I donโt know if anyone will care what I have to say butโฆwhen I was 7 this song was being played on the radio and I loved it so much. My big sister, who was in high school was a fan of it, as well as my mother who was in her late 40s. And I remember thinking how cool it was that 3 different generations all loved this song. It has always put tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. Fast forwardโฆI am 58 now, and was reading an article about David Crosby passing. In the article I see a tweet from Hanson that mentioned this song and I immediately do a search because when my kids were little they liked Hanson, and so did I. I have never heard anyone do this song aside from C S & N. Beautiful job, guys. โค

I'm 63, and I didn't hear the song until I was around 10, and that was because my parents never had anything current they listened to on mom's radio in the kitchen. After I had found stations that played current music, I knew I wanted a Transistor Radio, and for my birthday, I got it. It was then that I began to find awesome music that for me was the best stuff on the radio. That was before things such as "oldies" were played. I began to feel very old a couple of days ago while listening to favorite songs on the radio in the car. The 70's were considered "oldies" for awhile, but a couple of days ago as they played music from the 80's was "classic rock". You get beyond the 90's and a lot of "current" music truly sucks ass. We have 2 sons, both are in their early 30's, and they will still go to stations that play music from the 70's and 80's. They had grown up listening to it when we took road trips, either to grandpa and grandma's or shopping in one of several malls, all within 20-70 miles from home. To this day, they still love a good share of that music that we all sang along to in the years before they were born. The easiest I find current music that I like is from auditions on American Idol or AGT, sometimes XF or Britain's got talent. Once I hear part of a song that I like, I find the original on You Tube, and if it's there, I'm off to iTunes to download the song(s) that I liked that are newer music. Most of it sucks, but then there comes a real gem that I love. I have an ipod that out of 32GB, it has only 4 GB of free space still. I have over 2,200 songs on it. Sure beats taking a bag full of CD's to work every day. I don't work anymore, and my stress level has come down so far.

This reminds me of something Barry Gibb said: even though his brothers have been gone a long time, he can still smell their breath because of how often they sang around one microphone.

There is nothing more beautiful than the sound of brotherly (or sisterly) voices harmonizing. Because of the relationship to one another, the tones you create are just breathtaking
