Lesley Hazleton beautifully explained the pre-cursor events of the post-departure of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) that lead to the tragedy of Karbala.
What she failed to highlight in this book is that it all started with Abu Sufyan ibn Harb who was a leader, and a merchant of Mecca, accepted Islam out of fear of death when Prophet Muhammad peacefully took over Mecca in the conquest of Mecca after the treaty of Hudaybiyya was breached by the Banu Bakr, allies of the Quraysh, attacked the Banu Khuza'a, who had recently become allies of the Muslims.
Here my question to our Muslim brothers and sisters is that, after accepting Islam out of fear of death one would love the founder of Islam or hate him? Clearly, this hate was deliberately inculcated in the son and grandson of Abu Sufyan ibn Harb who schemed not only against the prophet but his progeny as well. This is well-documented Islamic history that leads to Karbala and beyond.
Yazid the son of Muawiyah son of Abu Sufyan ibn Harb specifically took revenge of these defeats of his father and grandfather and to complicate the matter, some companions of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) did not take the will of the prophet referred in the hadith as “The Calamity of Thursday”.
Although, the succession of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) was already chosen by Allah, however, some companions deliberately not wanting to accept this fact and that’s why “The Calamity of Thursday” occurred just before Prophet’s departure.
One thing is very clear to me that, it’s not up to man to choose the successor of a Prophet, it's up to Allah who He chooses as a successor after the prophet. Like other prophet came before Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH), and after him until the seal of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny).
In addition to more than 300 verses, Allah directly revealed in the Quran in favor of Hazrat Ali (PBUH), the following hadith of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) clearly reflects that Hazrat Ali (PBUH) is the successor of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny).
“Will you not be pleased that you will be to me like Haroun (Aaron) to Musa (Moses)? But there will be no prophet after me.”
Regardless of Shia and Sunni scholars’ commentaries, it is my belief that our Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) would not have uttered above words if he is not permitted by Allah (God) - read Surah Najm (53).
Finally, what our Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) did is to bring the people closer to each other, and in doing so, he did not step back from sacrificing his own life, he also sacrificed his family (progeny) in Karbala to save Islam from the corruption of Yazid and his thugs. Otherwise, today Muslim ummah will be openly doing what Yazid of his time had done so.
Few examples are doing Jumma on Wednesday instead of Friday. Eating and drinking prohibited articles such as pork, and alcohol. Yazid made Kaaba a horse stable and a womanizer, and many more examples like these.
To bring ummah closer to each other, I would ask the following questions and you all already know the answers. But you need to follow them through.
1. How can we resolve this conflict?
• Do you want to choose a corrupt guardian or a “Just” guardian who listens from an ordinary person to a leader of a society?
• If you choose a “Just” guardian, will you follow him to the letter or make shortcuts?
• If you follow him to the letter, do you think society/ummah will be better or worse?
• If you think that society/ummah will be better, then the guardian will not only a “Just” person but also a pragmatic one that will make no errors or mistakes to alleviate and elevate mankind to the next level.
• Over the centuries invested world powers used this divide for their own benefits. Therefore, it is needed to get the truth out in the open and educate general masses of the purported lies that were spread by these invested world powers.
• Imam-e-Zamana (a.s), the "Massiah" we all are waiting for will be that personality that will alleviate and elevate mankind to the next level. And to bring him back from the occultation as a leader of the ummah, we as a collective Muslim society must find “Just” guardians at every level to help Imam-e-Zaman in his ultimate fight against the evils in society.

• These negative practices engraved negative images for generations to come.
5. Elaborate the dictatorships in the ME?
• As correctly said by Miss Hazleton, that these dictatorships are propped up by colonial-era Europeans such as Britishers, and French governments and followed by Americans to date no change in their policy is observed.

After watching the video and reading the comments I would like to clear up some things.
As a sunni muslim this is not the first time I heard this story. Most of us also learn about the injustices that happened to Hadrat Hassan and Hadrat Hussein. We also despise Yazid. We love Hadrat Ali and Hadrat Fatima as well as the Prophet’s PBUH grandchildren. However, what was not explained is why some Shias promote so much falsehood and hate for first 3 caliphs. These stories are so hateful that any who believe them could not possibly imagine any unity with sunni muslims. I dont know how many Shias believe this (some of my friends are Shia, but they never mentioned this to me) but, they claim Hadrat Umar is responsible for Hadrat Fatima’s death or that he even tried to marry her. That he used violence on women, that he constantly intimidated Hadrat Ali into silence. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
Given that Hadrat Abu Bakr and Hadrat Umar loved the Prophet’s PBUH family more than any Sunni or Shia, it is impossible that they would harm any of them.
Hadrat Umar often took to council before making decisions. He would first seek advice from those who knew the most Hadith, then those who memorized the Quran, then from Hadrat Ali. He often followed this method of what would the Prophet PBUH do? What does the Quran say? What does Ali say? In regards to what he is allowed from the treasury he followed Hadrat Ali’s suggestion because it was the strictest one. This also implies he might consider Hadrat Ali his successor. He also named Hadrat Uthman and Hadrat Ali as to who should be next caliph and that the council should choose. He also told them strictly not to choose any of his own sons because he didn’t want to be accused of making the caliphate hereditary.
He once asked the Prophet PBUH if he could ask Hadrat Uthman to marry his daughter Hafsa. The Prophet PBUH replied that he would find a better husband for Hafsa and a better wife for Uthman, then the Prophet PBUH married Hafsa and married his daughter to Hadrat Uthman. (This is in response to claims Umar wanted to marry the Prophet’s daughter, but was refused and somehow forced the Prophet to marry his daughter)
Hadrat Umar married Hadrat Ali and Hadrat Fatima’s daughter Umm Kulthoom. Claims that Hadrat Ali was forced to do this or that Hadrat Ali would marry his daughter to her mother’s killer only make Hadrat Ali seem like a terrible father which is untrue. Hadrat Ali could not be forced or intimidated to do that to his own daughter. He agreed because Hadrat Umar told him that no man would treat his daughter better.
Hadrat Umar used to call Hadrat Ali “Abu Hassan” out of love.
Al-Shaykh al-Tusi and al-Saduq both narrate accounts of ‘Umar’s dissatisfaction with anyone who would in any way speak ill of Imam ‘Ali. In one such instance, someone denigrated ‘Ali in the presence of ‘Umar. Pointing at the grave of the Prophet, ‘Umar said, “Do you know who is buried here? Do you not know that his name is Muhammad ibn ‘Abdillah ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib and his is ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib? Woe to you! You should not speak of ‘Ali but good, for if you slight him, you have hurt whom is buried here.” (I found this source that refers to Ali as Imam Ali, so it seems even some Shias do not believe in disrespecting the first 3 caliphs)
To explain the first 4 caliphates as “perfect”… its not so much perfect, its the belief that it is all the will of Allah. This is hard to explain to nonmuslims, but even though we are saddened that they were martyred we also believe in fate. Everyone has a fated time when they will die. We grieve, but we do not remain in a constant state of suffering. This applies to the hard times we face in our own lives, we respond by saying “it is the will of Allah” and try to get through it with patience. To become bankrupt or ill or lose someone and proclaim that an injustice was dealt to us is not the way of a muslim. This life is temporary and we need to be thinking about the afterlife. Martyrdom is an honor and we believe they were martyred because they are honorable people and we believe they will receive what is promised in the afterlife. But of course muslims extremists and rulers like Yazid anger us.

I did not know the story about the horse and the doves and I at least gained some perspective on how “sacred”, as Lesley hazleton put it, the Shias see Hadrat Hassan and Hussain. Like she said this is where muslims divide into Sunni and Shia. Though we love and respect the first 4 caliphs and the Prophet’s PBUH family we can not see them as sacred. This is an attribute only belonging to Prophet Muhammad PBUH, that is why we are called “Sunni” meaning Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. In our view to see anyone after the Prophet PBUH as sacred would be against Islam.
For any Shia and even Sunni reading this I would like to make clear that our religion in no way does not love and respect the Prophet’s PBUH family. For any Shia who wants to grieve Hadrat Hassan and Hussein you can do that as a Sunni muslim, but if you see them as sacred then this is where we disagree. I think another difference is that we do not believe it is okay to cause self harm or grieve in that way, we believe the Prophet PBUH told us not to do that. When it comes to religious beliefs we do not follow anything after the Prophet PBUH, we also believe that the first 4 caliphs are rightly guided and did not do anything in their rule against what the Prophet PBUH taught. The Prophet’s PBUH family is also rightly guided, but unfortunately rulership was wrongly taken from them.
I was taught that Hadrat Hassan and Muawiya came to an agreement that Hadrat Hassan would become Caliph after Muawiya’s caliphate ended, Hadrat Hassan agreed in order to end more bloodshed. Muawiya ruled fairly, but was unaware of his son’s plotting. Muawiya’s son Yazid plotted to have Hadrat Hassan poisoned before his father’s caliphate ended so that the agreement would become void. This is exactly what happened. With Hadrat Hassan no longer living Muawiya gave the Caliphate to his son. This was his biggest mistake, not seeing the evil that Yazid was, showing favoritism by giving his caliphate to his son which no caliph had done before. He knew the Prophet PBUH’s grandson Hadrat Husayn was alive and should have rightfully given the caliphate to him, but being a father blinded him from seeing Yazid for what he was. And then the tragedy ensued under Yazid’s rule.
After learning some of the things Shia muslims believe in after the tragedy I have a better understanding and I respect what is sacred to them. I only wish they would respect what we respect and not spread this hate for the first 3 caliphs because its completely false. I dont exactly know what Extremists on the Sunni side say because I dont accept that they are Sunni, but most Sunni muslims do not disrespect the family of the Prophet PBUH at all. We do not see them as sacred, but I dont believe this is the same as disrespecting or discrediting them.

I still have a question about when exactly did the Shia Sunni split occur? If both agree on the tragedy of the Prophet's PBUH family then the disagreement is on the sacredness of his grandchildren. So at some point after the death of Hadrat/Imam Hussain at the hands of Yazid would have to have been the discussion on whether they were sacred or not, and probably at the same time when concerns over Hadrat Ali's rightful succession was discussed too. Those discussions that we have today about hadith and Quran verses that imply Hadrat Ali or the Shura.

I see the king of glory
Coming on the clouds with fire
The whole earth shakes, the whole earth shakes, yeah
I see His love and mercy
Washing over all our sin
The people sing, the people sing
Hosainna, Hosainna
Hosainna in the highest
Hosainna, Hosainna
Hosainna in the highest
I see a generation
Rising up to take the place
With selfless faith, with selfless faith
I see a near revival
Staring as we pray and seek
We're on our knees, we're on our knees
Hosainna, Hosainna
Hosainna in the highest
Hosainna, Hosainna
Hosainna in the highest
Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks yours
Everything I am for your kingdom's cause
As I walk from earth into eternity
Hosainna, Hosainna
Hosainna in the highest
Hosainna, Hosainna
Hosainna in the highest
Hosainna, Hosainna
Hosainna in the highest
Hosainna, Hosainna

I wake up ماذا قدمت لحياتك اي لآخرتك

15 Astonishing facts About Islam That you Really don't know !

1) “Islam” means “surrender” or “submission” .
“Salam” (which means “peace”) is the root word of “Islam”.
In a religious context the word “Islam” means “the surrendering of one’s will (without compulsion) to the true will of God in an effort to achieve peace”.

2) “Muslim” means “anyone or anything that surrenders itself to the true will of God”.
By this definition, everything in nature (trees, animals, planets, etc.) are “muslims” because they are in a state of surrender to God’s will.
In other words, they are fulfilling the purpose for which God created them.

3) Islam is not a new religion or cult. It is a universal way of life and civilization.
Again, Islam is not a new religion, rather it is the same message preached by all earlier prophets such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them all).
But God’s final message to mankind was revealed to the last prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him), as a revival of lost teachings of previous prophets and as a reconfirmation of the eternal message. Studies show that between 1.5 and 1.8 billion people in the world identify their religion as Islam. Along with Judaism and Christianity it traces its roots through Prophet Abraham and back to the first humans Adam and Eve.

4) There are five pillars of practice in Islam. These practices must be undertaken with the best of effort in order to be considered a true Muslim:
A) Declaration of faith: A statement proclaiming the belief in One God and that Muhammad is a prophet of God. To become Muslim a person simply recites this statement publicly, and in Arabic.
B) Formal prayer five times a day.
C) Poor-due tax: 2.5% of one’s excess wealth given to the needy once a year.
D) Fasting during the daylight hours in the month of Ramadan.
E) Pilgrimage to Mecca at least once, if physically and financially able.

5) There are six articles of faith in Islam. These are the basic beliefs that one must have in order to be considered a true Muslim. They are belief in:
A) the One God.
B) all of the true prophets of God.
C) the original scriptures revealed to Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad.
D) the angels.
E) the Day of Judgment and the Hereafter.
F) destiny.

6) Muslims believe in the one Creator of the Universe, referring to Him as “Allah” which is the Arabic word for “God”.
Muslims worldwide, even English-speaking Muslims, frequently use the Arabic word “Allah” because Arabic is the language of the Qur’an.
But Allah is no different than the God of Abraham, Moses and Jesus.
The Creator is the Creator regardless of what people call Him.
In the English language He is most commonly referred to as “God”.
Yet Jesus spoke a different language, referring to God as “Eloi” in Mark 15:34 of the New Testament.
Are “God” and “Eloi” different gods? Many Hispanics call God “Dios” and many French say “Dieu”.
It would logically follow then that people who refer to God as “Allah” in the Arabic language are referring to the very same God.
In fact, many Arab Jews and Arab Christians call God “Allah”.
And the word “Allah” is written in Arabic script on the walls of many Arab churches and on the pages of Arabic Bibles.
So while the understanding of God may differ between faith groups, the various names used to describe Him does not change the fact that the one Creator of the Universe is the God of all people.

This is Allah Almighty, The Creator, the one and only true God. He is my God, our God:

"Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi (Throne) extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great."
(Quran 2:255)

{Say, “He is Allah, the One. Allah, to Whom the creatures turn for their needs. He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none like Him.” }
(Quran, 112:1-4)

Allah Almighty says in the Quran:
"Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
[Quran 39:53]

7) The Islamic concept of God is that He is loving, merciful and compassionate. Islam also teaches that He is all-knowing and the perfect judge of affairs, and will punish (or forgive) accordingly. However, Allah once said to Muhammad, “My mercy prevails over my wrath”. So Islam teaches a balance between fear and hope, protecting one from both complacency and despair.

8) Muslims believe that God has revealed 99 of His names, or attributes, in the Qur’an. It is through these names that one can come to know the Creator. A few of these names are the All-Merciful, the All-Knower, the Protector, the Provider, the Near, the First, the Last, the Hidden and the Source of All Peace.

9) The Christian concept of “vicarious atonement” (the idea that Jesus died for the sins of humanity) is alien to the Islamic concept of personal responsibility. Islam teaches that on the Day of Judgment every person will be resurrected and will be accountable to God for their every word and deed. Consequently, a practicing Muslim is always striving to be righteous while hoping and praying for God’s acceptance and grace.

10) Muslims believe in all of the true prophets that preceded Muhammad, from Adam to Jesus. Muslims believe they brought the same message of voluntarily surrendering to God’s will (islam, in a generic sense) to different peoples at different times. Muslims also believe they were “muslims” (again, in a generic sense) since they followed God’s true guidance and surrendered their will to Him.

11) Muslims neither worship Muhammad nor pray through him. Muslims worship the Unseen, Omniscient Creator, Allah.

12) Muslims accept the original unaltered Torah (as revealed to Moses) and the original unaltered Bible (as revealed to Jesus) since they were revealed by God. But none of these scriptures exist today in their original form or in their entirety. Therefore, Muslims follow the subsequent, final and preserved revelation of God, the Qur’an.

13) The Qur’an was not authored by Muhammad. It was authored by God, revealed to Muhammad (through angel Gabriel) and written into physical form by his companions.

14) The original Arabic text of the Qur’an contains no flaws or contradictions and has not been altered since its revelation.

15) Actual 7th century Qur’ans, complete and intact, are on display in museums in Turkey and other places around the world.

🔹️ Islam and Racism
Islam with its universal concept of brotherhood rejects all artificial and man-made marks of distinction.

Allah Almighty says in the noble Quran:

"O mankind, indeed We (Allah) have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted."
(Quran 49:13)

No one can claim any superiority over the other based on race, color, language or wealth and this is emphasized in the last sermon of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) showing high regard of humanity irrespective of color or race:

"“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor does a black have any superiority over a white except by piety and good action.”

🔹️ How to convert (revert) to Islam

Basically to become a Muslim is very simple.. you need to say the decleration of faith oraly while you believe in it by heart with a firm conviction and unshakeable faith.

The decleration of Faith in Islam (The Shahada)
The Shahada (in Arabic) can be declared as follows :

“ASH-HADU ANLA ELAHA ILLA-ALLAH WA ASH-HADU ANNA MOHAMMADAN RASUL-ALLAH”

The English translation is :

“I bear witness that there is no deity (none truly to be worshipped) but, Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah.”

However, it would not be sufficient for anyone to only utter this testimony oraly either in private or in public; but rather, he should believe in it by heart with a firm conviction and unshakeable faith. If one is truly sincere and complies with the teachings of Islam in all his life, he will find himself a new born person.

God is Just

Peace!
The Muslims would not have been divided and in disagreement had it not been for the Companions, for every disagreement that has been created in the past, or is being created at the present time is due to their disagreement about the Companions. There is one God, one Qur'an, one Messenger and one Qiblah, and they all agree on that, but the disagreement among the Companions started on the first day after the death of the Messenger (saw), in the Saqifah (house) of Bani Saidah, and has continued up to the present day, and will continue for as long as Allah wills it.

The main problem with all that was the Companions themselves, for they disagreed about the wish of the Messenger of Allah (saw) to write them a document which would help them to remain on the right path until the Day of Judgment. This disagreement deprived the Islamic nation of a unique virtue, and has thrown it into darkness until it was divided and plagued with internal quarrels and finally ended up as a spent force.

It was they who disagreed on the issue of the Caliphate (the successorship of the Prophet), and were divided between a ruling and an opposing party, thus dividing the nation into the followers of ‘Ali and the followers of Muawiyah. It was they who differed in the interpretations of the Book of Allah and the sayings of His Messenger, which led to the creation of the various creeds, groups and subgroups; and from them came many scholars of scholastic theology and schools of thoughts and philosophies inspired by political ambitions with one aim in mind and that was to obtain power.

Through my discussions with the Shiite scholars, I discovered that, in their views, the Companions were divided into three categories:

The first category included the good Companions who knew Allah and His Messenger truly well, and they acclaimed him (the Messenger) to the last moments of their lives. They were truly his friends by words and deeds, and they never abandoned him, but rather stood their ground with him. Allah - the most High - praised them in many places in His Holy Book, and the Messenger of Allah (saw) also praised them in many places. This group of Companions are mentioned by the Shi’a with reverence and respect, they are also mentioned by the Sunnis with the same reverence and respect.

The second category were the Companions who embraced Islam and followed the Messenger of Allah (saw) either through choice or through fear, and they always showed their gratitude to the Messenger of Allah (saw) for their Islam. However, they hurt the Messenger of Allah (saw) on a few occasions, and did not always follow his orders, in fact they often challenged him and challenged the clear text with their points of view, until Allah, through the Holy Qur'an, had to intervene by rebuking them or threatening them. Allah exposed them in many Qur'anic verses, also the Messenger of Allah (saw) warned them in many of his sayings. The Shi’a mention this group of Companions only because of their deeds, and without respect or reverence.

The third type of Companions were the hypocrites who accompanied the Messenger of Allah (saw) to deceive him. They pretended to be Muslims but inside themselves they were bent on blasphemy and on deceiving Islam and the Muslims as a whole. Allah has revealed a complete Surah in the Qur'an about them, and mentioned them in many other places, and promised them the lowest level in Hell. Also the Messenger of Allah (saw) mentioned them and issued warnings about them, and even informed some of his close friends about their names and characteristics. The Shi’a and the Sunnis agree in cursing this group of Companions and have nothing to do with them.

There was a special group of Companions who distinguished themselves from the others by being relatives of the Prophet (saw), in addition to having possessed ethical and spiritual virtues and personal distinctions from Allah and His Messenger that no one else was honored with. These were Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet's Family) whom Allah cleansed and purified, and ordered us to pray for them in the same way as he ordered us to pray for His Messenger.

He made it obligatory for us to pay them one fifth of our income, and that every Muslim must love them as a reward for the Muhammadan Message. They are our leaders and we must obey them; and they are people firmly rooted in knowledge who know the interpretation of the Holy Qur'an and they know the decisive verses of it, as well as those verses which are allegorical.

They are the people of al-Dhikr whom the Messenger of Allah equated with the Holy Qur'an in his saying "the two weighty things" (al-Thaqalayn), and ordered us to adhere to them1, He equated them to Noah's Ark: whoever joined it was saved, and whoever left it drowned2. The Companions knew the position of Ahl al-Bayt and revered them and respected them. The Shi’a follow them and put them above any of the Companions, and to support that they have many clear texts as proofs.

The Sunnis respect and revere the Companions but do not accept the above classification and do not believe that some of the Companions were hypocrites; rather, they see the Companions as being the best people after the Messenger of Allah. If they classify the Companions then it would be according to their seniority and their merits and their services to Islam. They put the Rightly Guided Caliphs in the first class, then the first six of the ten who were promised with heaven, according to them. Therefore when they pray for the Prophet (saw) and his household they attach with them all the Companions without exception.

This is what I know from the Sunni scholars, and that is what I heard from the Shi’i scholars regarding the classification of the Companions; and that is what made me start my detailed study with the issue of the Companions. I promised my God - if He led me on the right path - to rid myself from emotional bias and to be neutral and objective and to listen to what the two sides said, then to follow what was best, basing my conclusions on two premises:

1. A sound and a logical premise: that is to say that I would only depend upon what everybody is in agreement with, regarding the commentary on the Book of Allah, and the correct parts of the honorable Sunnah of the Prophet.

2. The mind: for it is the greatest gift that Allah has given to human beings, and through it He honored them and distinguished them from the rest of creation. Thus, when Allah protests about what His worshippers do, He asks them to use their minds in the best possible way, and He says: Do they not understand? Do they not comprehend? Do they not see? etc."

Let my Islam primarily be the belief in Allah, His angels, His Books and His messengers; and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger; and that the Religion of Allah is Islam; and that I will never depend on any of the Companions, regardless of his relation to the Messenger or his position, for I am neither Umayyad nor Abbasid nor Fatimid, and I am neither Sunni nor Shi’i, and I have no enmity towards Abu Bakr or Umar or Uthman or ‘Ali or even Wahshi, the killer of our master al-Hamzah, as long as he became a Muslim, and the Messenger of Allah forgave him. Since I had forced myself into this study in order to reach the truth, and since I had rid myself, sincerely, from all my previous beliefs, I decided to start, with the blessing of Allah, by considering the attitudes of the Companions.

i think, the main problem of common muslims and including most of their Quranic scholars, are too much "legalistic," (fiqh oriented), as if ayatollah (god guidance) is only one: al Quran (holy scripture) and its derivatives (hadist, ijma, qiyas, etc). factually, God him self, in very first revelation to Muhammad, is not asking Muhammad to study (iqra) the holy Quran (cos the kitab doesn't exist at that day), instead He command Muhammad to study (iqra) other ayatullah, we called as ayat Kauniyah (universe and all of His Creations in it). That why in serious and encyclopedic Islamic traditional school, we always taught that beside al Quran, there is another god guidance (ayatullah) called ayat kauniyah (the universe and all god creation in it). and for qur'anic scholars, we also know --from al Quran it self, there are two others god guidance (ayatullah), that we as muslims should seek for God Guidances: called as ayat insaniyah (human being) and ayat tarikhiyyah (human history).

if common muslims and it scholars, uses all 4 God Guidance in balanced ways, we will not always fall into legalistic point of view when we talking or examining Islam point of view about woman/feminism, politics, evolution, LGBTQ issues, democracy, secularism, separation between religion and state, on terrorism, etc. for me, if sociology, political science, statistics, history on the rise and fall of civilizations/countries (as interpreters of ayat kauniyah and ayat tarikhiyyah) comes to the conclusion that democracy with separation between religion and state, is the best political system in the world for advancement human civilizations, then all Muslims should choose democracy with separation between religion and state, as preferable political system to practice in all Muslims majority countries.

also if expert on biology, doctors, psychiatry, etc (as interpreter of ayat kauniyah and ayat insaniyah) , said that beside man and woman (as gender), we also has intersex, hemaprodyte, woman with more testosterones, man with more X chromosome, etc, then all Muslims should choose to agree that god him self gave us guidance / ayat that beside man and woman as gender, there also another genders/pronouns that we should cherish, protect, and respect (cos if we don't respect others God Creations, are similarly with we don't respect our God as their Creator).

if we stubborn, only picks, one ayatullah, we called al Quran (holy scripture/ayat Qauliyah), as the one and only god guidance to follow, then muslims and it scholars, will always fall upon into legalistic point of view (fiqh oriented) when we examining what is islamic point view on everything under the sky. wahabbiyah, isis, al Qaida, etc are trapped in this narrow point of view about Islam and its believe. of course, for responsible and encyclopedic islamic teaching, all those narrow point views on Islam are wrong (at least incomplete), misguided, and disrespecting God.

umar bin khattab, as on of few sahabah (closed friend of Prophet), several times choose to disregarding some textual issues stated clearly in al Quran, and pick other decision after he choose as Muhammad successor, as leader (khalifah/amir), if there are more fairer and more justice way (socially) on making decision as Amir/Leader, rather than choose from what already state very clear in al Quran. he always choose more fairer and more justice decisions, even others sahabah question his decision. and as we know it, umar bin khattab is one of several sahabah (closed friend of Prophet) that guaranteed (informed) by the Prophet that he is going to heaven. his way of leadership decision, was a hard evidence that the closest friend to Muhammad, also not only consider holy scripture (ayat Qauliyah), but also social aspect, fairness, and justice (ayat kauniyah), when he making decision as a leader.

nobody in umar bin khattab time, dare to called umar bin khattab as heretic/bid'ah, kuffar, or infidel. but in modern era, several of loud muslims, loud muslim scholars, and most of jihadist will immediately call us heretic/bid'ah, kuffar, or infidel if we also uses 3 other God Guidance's beside ayat Qauliyah, when we speak, analyze, examining islamic point of view on everything under the sun. how strange is it, if we following completes God Guidance's, then be called as infidel, kuffar, or bid'ah. legalistic approach (fiqh oriented) on Islam has bad impact on advancement of Islamic civilization, and has backward effect on development of its peoples: the Muslims. but yes, in Islamic jurisprudence (ushul fiqh), we also has similar concept with Umar way, but unfortunately has more narrowed approach and clearly far from sufficient to be implemented in modern era, we call them: maslahah mursalah (public good principle) and maqashid syariah (ratio legal over legal specific).

if muslims also incorporate social science, biology, technology, history, political science, psychology, etc (as part of rightful interpreter all of God Guidancs/ayatullah), many problem we faced today in many part of Muslim countries, will be addressed in responsible way. Muhammad him self, in his own word (Hadits Bukhari Collection no 6015), said: muslims should follow person with specific expertise on handling matter, so let political scientist handle political matter, health matter should handle by doctors, etc. do not let everything under authority of quranic expert. in general, muslim should treat expert on other ayatullah (scientist as rightful interpreter whole universe and all of His Creations in it, as rightful interpreter human being behavior and it history) equal to expert on holy scripture (al quran). Furthermore, on all wide range of social issues, every new founding/understanding as result from responsible research by scientist, should supersede (abrogate) any old interpretation from holy scripture, cos all of new founding/understanding as result from responsible research by scientist, are also rightful interpreter of God Guidance (ayatullah). falling to do so, should be interpreted as a disqualified argument/opinion.

Many argument/opinion base on fiqh (islamic legal specific), kalam (theology) and falsafah (philosophy), factually in most areas are quite obsolete for addressing social, economic, and political problem in modern era, cos most of them are derived only from ayat Qauliyah (Quranic centric), which is an incomplete way to sorting our problem in modern era. Most of old argument/opinion already supersede/abrogated by new founding/understanding as result from responsible research by scientist. Muslims should back to the complete of God Guidance in balance way on solving problem in Muslims world, not only using holy scripture as final say. and stop kuffar/infidel calling game, cos that game from a complete, genuine, and responsible interpretation of 4 God Guidances, is simply un islamic.

and, as an open end conclusion, there is a deeper question: why common muslims and its scholars dare to disregarding 3 other God Guidance's? why muslims and its scholars become legalistic (only focus on 1 ayatullah / 1 God Gudance (ayat Qauliyah) called alquran, as if salvation of a civilization fate can be and must be depend on 1 cause only? as brief answer is: corruption and abuse of power by people in high power, it cronies, and big business that closed to muslim countries rulers at that time. all of them, almost single handedly creates and propagate common muslims and its scholars into disregarding 3 other God Guidance's.

peoples in power, it cronies, and big business that closed to muslim countries rulers push and push relentlessly to narrow interpretation on morals and public interest thru perverted interpretation on the holy scripture. even, they dare to appoint unqualified islamic scholar as qadi for them to uses as fatwa producers in favors to their vested interest. since then, islamic civilization goes down spiral into inevitable decline from it's greatness. many fatwa produced in their regime will makes serious, genuine, and responsible islamic scholar scratching their head and shocked. fatwa on mihnah policy, on banning printing technology, banning radio, tv, google, youtube, etc, are among of perverted interpretation on holy scripture. it lead to tradition/repetition/reinforcement on using narrow interpretation islamic law for beating and punishing dissent and discontent on social injustice in islamic society.

furthermore, it lead islamic society to become close minded, anti science, and trapped in textual approach tradition on just 1 god guidance called al quran (ayat Qauliyah) only, with narrow and more narrow interpretation. common muslim today and it scholar today are the real victims of bad fatwa born from dark alliance between high power, it cronies, big business that closed to muslim rulers before them. lets wake them up, by spreading the real genuine of God Guidance's and it's rightful interpreters that we called: sciences. amen.

Dear Hazel,
As a Muslim I enjoy listening to your videos thank you so much. However, I wish to bring to your attention Imams Ali and Hussein should be acknowledged as Saints not normal beings. They were referred to by the prophet as family and any enemy of them is an enemy of the prophet and God. The prophet foretold them who and how they will be slayed in the name of God.

You also fail to teach your audience how treacherous and blasphemous Moywai and Yazid were not only to Islam but to all other religions. How they fought Islam and encouraged tyranny, illegal imprisonment, fear, brutality, alcohol, prostitution etc. Yazid invaded Mecca while Moyawa fought Ali and ridiculed the Quran on a spear. While their father Abu Sufan was the biggest enemy to the prophet and their mother Hind ate the liver of Hamza the prophets uncle.

These people were rejectors of peace, dictators of their time and Ali, Hussein and all the Imams refused allegiance bcoz it was far fetched from the teachings of Islam and the prophet's sunna.

Iman Ali was slayed during non obligatory dawn prayers in a mosque while Hussien was decapitated with his family and friends and left to burn in the scorching sun.

The nobility of prophet hood was cut off and such actions by these saints live in us all today. We all want peace, tranquility, fairness and equality for the entire of mankind.

That's what they taught us. It wasn't just a resentment of government it was a rally against dictatorship, capitalism, injustice which will live in our hearts forever. Every revolution today no matter where can be connected to all the 12 imams in particular Imam Ali and Hussein.

Once again thank you for educationing the world and may God bless you and enlighten your endeavors.

Truth Decay

The Raafidis, Imamis or Ithna ‘Asharis (“Twelvers”) are one of the branches of Shi’ism. They are called Raafidis because they rejected (rafada) most of the Sahaabah and they rejected the leadership of the two Shaykhs Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, or because they rejected the imamate of Zayd ibn ‘Ali, and deserted him. They exaggerate about their imams, claiming that they are infallible, and they devote many acts of worship to them such as supplication, seeking help, offering sacrifices and tawaaf (circumambulating their tombs). This is major shirk which Allaah tells us will not be forgiven. These acts of shirk are committed by their scholars and common folk alike, without anyone among them objecting to that. They say that the Holy Qur’aan has been distorted, and that things have been added and taken away. They regard most of the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) as kaafirs, and disavow them, and they seek to draw closer to Allaah by cursing and reviling them. They attribute badaa’ to Allaah, i.e., forming a new opinion that was not held before. This implies attribution of ignorance to Allaah, may He be exalted. They believe in taqiyah (dissimulation) which means showing outwardly something other than what one feels inside. In fact this is lying and hypocrisy and skill in deceiving people. This is not something that they do at times of fear; rather they regard use of taqiyah as a religious duty for minor and major matters, at times of fear and times of safety. Belief in raja’ah, which is the belief that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and the members of his household (ahl al-bayt), ‘Ali, al-Hasan, al-Husayn and the other imams will return. At the same time, Abu Bakr, ‘Umar, ‘Uthmaan, Mu’aawiyah, Yazeed, Ibn Dhi’l-Jooshan and everyone who harmed Ahl al-bayt – according to their claims – will also return. And there are other corrupt beliefs which one can find more details about in the following books, which explain how false they are:

al-Khutoot al-‘Areedah by Muhibb al-Deen al-Khateeb (available in English, translated by Abu Bilal Mustafa al-Kanadi)

Usool Madhhab al-Shi’ah al-Imamiyyah by Dr. Naasir al-Qafaari

Firaq Mu’aasirah tantasib ila al-Islam by Dr. Ghaalib ibn ‘Ali ‘Awaaji (1/127-269)

Al-Mawsoo’ah al-Muyassarah fi’l-Adyaan wa’l-Madhaahib wa’l-Ahzaab al-Mu’aasirah (1/51-57).....

The Imami Shi’ah madhhab is a fabricated madhhab that has been introduced into Islam. We advise you to read the book al-Khutoot al-‘Areedah and Mukhtasar al-Tuhfah al-Ithna ‘Ashariyyah and Minhaaj al-Sunnah by Shaykh al-Islam [Ibn Taymiyah], which will explain a lot of their innovations.........for the full breakdown visit https://www.google.com/amp/s/islamqa.info/amp/en/answers/101272

Amazingly narrated, wow, so captivating and non biased! Being a Sunni Muslim this lady has made me acknowledge each others sorrow and created compassion for the Shia and their interpretation of events, I have never really considered them to be an opposition but only muslim because the common believe of "La ilaha ilalah Mohamed du Rasoollah", (There is no God but Allah and Mohamed is his messenger). One in faith, I give this Lady upmost respect!!

GreyBeard

@tecktack first, better late than never, and second, I guess it had to be from someone who can be seen as 'neutral', because narratives from either side are biased.

@Hhh be sure that the division that happened when rasulullah wanted to write his will by Omar saying that the prophet doesn't know what he is saying...will continue until imam mahdi comes and fix it.

Hhh

@tecktack I know history, your making assumptions. When people make comments like that, they are adding fuel to the fire. Hence, contributing to division. What was the intention of making such a comment that Shias don’t believe in the prophet. The person who made that comment must know that is not true, therefore why make such a comment? Shame!

tecktack

@Hhh shame on you for not understanding the meaning..
The division is done by the religious leaders who follow the footsteps of the rabies and priests who miss lead there people for short benefits.
Go first and read the history to know were shia started and who gave them the name..dont listen to the divisive people but read.
