Despite being an athiest, I'd say calling Ganesha a statue of elephant is kinda umm idk how practicing Hindus would feel about it. Cause Ganesha had a human body with an elephant head. He wasn't entirely an elephant-god. Also 'cartoons' mentioned here ae essentially a painting of their dieties. It's my personal opinion that even if it's comedy, if there's misinformation spread that could possibly hurt practicing Hindu's sentiment, I don't think it should be welcomed. Because during the colonial era by both islamic invaders and Christan regime, the people from India were ridiculed for their beliefs and such stereotypes stemmed out of it. It might be a subject of fun and laughter on the stage but there a billion people who actually believe that Ganesha is their diety /God.

So, it does matter if you actually follow the religion. Judaism also follows similar rules like these closely but I would say Christianity is actually the most relaxed from what I've seen. I am pretty interested in religions haha. A quick, humble correction - we Hindus don't pray to 'statues'. That implies that they are lifeless. We pray to 'murthis', a visual representation of the power and energy who we are worshipping.

I understand that this is a comedy show that educates and humours people, but pleasee do your best to respect all faiths!

Except that first of all, he didn't say that Hindus pray to statues per se. & second, regardless of what symbolic meaning you put on your 'visual representation of the power and energy who we are worshipping', it doesn't change the fact that those are still statues.

sam vik if you want to educate yourself about islam don't look at muslims go and read the scriptures if you genuinely want to know islam the right way.. coz muslims aren't supposed to worship anyone except Allah.. The grave worshippers are those who either (a) use the dead as intercessors/intermediaries, thinking that they are closer to Allah and can do favors for the living or (b) pray directly and beg for forgiveness for their sins from them. There are many Muslims, who not only pray to Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) for help, but also pray to his companions, saints, great Imams of the past or other righteous/pious Muslims; this heretical practice is based on the beliefs and practices of mystics (Sufis). In fact, both methods of grave worship contain the grave sin of shirk and are totally rejected in Islam. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) said, “The most evil of mankind are those who will be alive when the Last Day arrives and those who take graves as places of worship.”
