Why can't I let the past be the past?
Once and for all take a hold of the future
And not let it control what I aspire to have
I see where my decisions have brought me
What's done is done and it's time to start again
Can't let it tear me in two, or waste me away
I gotta believe
'Cause this is now (now!)
Can I change tomorrow if I can't change today?
This is now (now!)
If I control myself I control my destiny
This is now (now!)
How can I change tomorrow if I can't change today?
This is now (now!)
If I control myself I control my destiny
What I've seen and what I've been through
Has made me who I am
There was a time in my life
Where I had no desire to carry on
I couldn't see a place for me
Or a will to survive
I never thought to rely on myself
Or the beliefs that I had denied
But this is now (now!)
How can I change tomorrow if I can't change today?
This is now (now!)
If I control myself I control my destiny
This is now (now!)
How can I change tomorrow if I can't change today?
This is now (now!)
If I control myself I control my destiny
If I control myself
I control my tomorrow, I got to change today
'Cause this is now!
Now! (now!)
Now! (now!)
This is now!
How can I change tomorrow if I can't change today?
I must control myself if I'm to control my destiny
'Cause this is now!
This is now!
This is now (now!)
How can I change tomorrow if I can't change today?
This is now (now!)
If I control myself I control my destiny
This is now (now!)
How can I change tomorrow if I can't change today?
This is now (now!)
If I control myself I control my destiny
The song "This Is Now" by Hatebreed is about moving on from the past and taking control of one's future. The lyrics talk about the struggle of letting go of past memories and mistakes and how it can hinder one's progress. The singer admits to having made mistakes in the past, but stresses that it's important to start anew and not let past mistakes define one's future.
The chorus emphasizes the importance of self-control and how it's crucial in shaping one's destiny. The lyrics suggest that by having control over oneself, one can control their future and create a better tomorrow. The repetition of "this is now" emphasizes the urgency of taking action in the present, rather than waiting for a better future to come to us.
Overall, the message of the song "This Is Now" is about seizing the present moment, taking control of one's life, and shaping one's own destiny, regardless of past mistakes or misfortunes.

Now is the time for me to rise to my feet
Wipe your spit from my face
Wipe these tears from my eyes
Now is the time for me to rise to my feet
Wipe your spit from my face
Wipe these tears from my eyes
I've got to take my life back
One chance to make it right
I've gotta have my voice be heard
And bring meaning to this life
[Verse]
'Cause I've trusted for nothing
I've been led astray
I've been tried and tested
But I won't accept defeat
Now I've done things I regret
And it's time to reverse the roles
Now I just wanna make good on
All the promises I have made
(I will be)
[Chorus]
I
Will
Be
I will be heard
I
Will
Be
I will be heard
Now is the time for me to rise to my feet
(I will be heard)
Wipe your spit from my face
Wipe these tears from my eyes
(I will be heard)
Through the worst, we prevail
(So our voices will be heard)
Through the worst, we prevail
(So are voices will be heard)
Through the worst, we prevail
So our voices will be heard
Through the worst, we prevail
So our voices will be
[Refrain]
Now is the time for me to rise to my feet
Wipe your spit from my face
Wipe these tears from my eyes
Now is the time for me to rise to my feet
Wipe your spit from my face
Wipe these tears from my eyes
I've got to take my life back
One chance to make it right
I've got to have my voice be heard
And bring meaning to this life
[Verse]
'Cause I've trusted for nothing
I've been led astray
I've been tried and tested
But I won't accept defeat
Now I've done things I regret
And it's time to reverse the roles
Now I just wanna make good on
All the promises I have made
(I will be)

Im 37 years old and I heard this song about 23 years ago, it still hits home just as hard as the first time.
MY Dad heard me listening to it, heard the raw energy and saw band name, then told me to give him the cds case booklet, with the lyrics. After reading them, he told me that it was fine to listen to it.
