Let's get together, yeah yeah yeah
Why don't you and I combi-ine
Let's get together, what do you say
We can have a swingin' ti-ime
We'd be a cra-a-azy team
Why don't we ma-a-ake a scene?
Together, oh oh oh oh
Let's get together, yeah yeah yeah
Think of all that we could sha-are
Let's get together everyday
Every way and everywhere
And though we haven't got a lot
We could be sharin' all we've got
Together

Oh, I really think you're swell
Uh-huh, we really ring the bell
Oo-wee, and if you stick with me
Nothing could be greater, say hey alligat-ah!

Let's get together, yeah yeah yeah
Two is twice as nice as one
Let's get together right away
We'll be having twice the fun
And you can always count on me

A gruesome twosome we will be
Let's get together, yeah yeah yeah!

Overall Meaning

The song "Let's Get Together" by Hayley Mills is a bubbly and lighthearted song about two people coming together to have fun and create memories. It's an upbeat call to adventure and the outdoors, upbeat with its infectious "yeah yeah yeah" refrain. The first verse immediately sets the tone for the song, promoting the idea of coming together simply for the sake of having a good time. The second verse presents the idea of sharing, a common theme in this song, as the two people consider what they have to offer each other. The chorus is a joyful call to get together both physically and mentally, allowing the two individuals to combine their thoughts and experiences to have a great time.

Throughout the song, the notion of being together is emphasized - first as a fun, carefree option and then as a maxim for a fulfilled life. The song is about being with someone else and it does not matter how much money or belongings each person has, they can still have fun together; all it takes is a swingin' time with someone as great as the other person in the song. The song encourages the concept of spending time with a partner during every moment, and creating new experiences every day. The song is a representation of innocence and joy, with all its exuberance and optimism for the magic of being together.

Oh my gosh, this is the first time I ever saw this movie and I’m suddenly realizing that Lindsey Lohan sings this song to herself when she’s at the hotel clicking on the elevator button, right before she bumps in Merideath. Very nice little Easter egg touch, Disney.

I LOVE THIS SONG. I feel innocent again and forget my past as a porn actor. I'm a sorry excuse for a person with my past. I retired from 'acting' in 2002. I still feel dirty because of those movies that I degraded myself in! Don't ever choose to do porn; it will destroy your soul!

1961...my parents were in the middle of a vicious divorce proceedings and " Parent Trap " was playing at the local movie theatre.I walked down to see it and fell in love with Haley Mills. I too, wanted my parents to make up and stay together, as happened in the film. I remember I cried all the way home hoping beyond hope that this would happen to me and our family. I wrote a letter to Haley Mills PO Box London England, telling her how much I liked her performance and also of my parents divorce predicament. I bought this 45 record and still have same. About a month later came a letter in the mail from London England. Inside, was a picture of Haley Mills dressed as she was in the movie with her autographed signature in the bottom corner. I still have the photo and autographed signature all these years past. Of course, my parents did Not get back together ...until.....35 years later, when both were divorced. Dad flew accross the country to see mother. It was just a week before my mother was to die during emergency heart surgery. My father and mother truly did love each other, after all.
And yes, I do miss both of them, who are now in glory with our Savior......Dana
