Flat as a Pancake would remain their most popular album spawning two charting singles, the well-known anthem "Never Been Any Reason" and "Love Me tonight", both written by guitarist Mike Somerville.
This lineup of John Schlitt (vocals), Mike Somerville (guitars), Roger Boyd (keyboards), Dan Birney (bass) and Steve Huston (drums) would last through four more studio albums and a double-LP live album when in 1980 Schlitt, Birney and Somerville left the band although Somerville would return for 1994 through 2003. By the mid-80’s, John Schlitt, had joined Petra, a christian rock band when lead singer Greg X. Volz left the band.
Roger Boyd took over leadership of the band for one mildly successful album, U.S. 1, and two more studio albums before the band became an oldies act

Now you begin running for cover
You're really not sure what the right thing is to do (oh)
You can't sleep at night, is your conscience bothering you (oh)
It's the wrong time for you to be leaving
It's the wrong time now hear what I say
Gonna be a long time before I come around
You got a question and I got an answer
Don't let our problem grow like a cancer
To run away now is not the right thing for you to do (oh)
You'd better listen to all the things I'm saying to you
It's the wrong time for you to be leaving
It's the wrong time now hear what I say
Gonna be a long time before I come around
You picked the wrong time to walk away
Wrong time - (repeated in background throughout all of the following)
Oh, it's the wrong time
Oh, wrong wrong time
Won't you listen to me
Don't you walk away (yeah)
Oh, it's the wrong time
Oh, such a long long time it's gonna be
Before I come around to see you
Don't you walk away (yeah)
It's the wrong time
You got to listen to me
Oh, such a long long time (yeah)
I'm begging you
Oh, don't you walk away (yeah)
Oh, long time
You know you picked the wrong time to (yeah)
Wrong time (yeah)
In Head East's song "Wrong Time," the singer is pleading with a former lover not to leave him now. The lyrics express confusion and desperation about the situation, as the two parties seem to have been friends who are drifting apart. The singer has feelings for the other person but is unsure if the other person reciprocates those feelings, and is worried about what the future holds. The chorus repeats several times, emphasizing that the wrong decision has been made at the wrong moment. The singer urges the other person to listen to him and not to walk away, stressing the importance of addressing their issues before it's too late.
The song's lyrics are relatively simple, but they convey an emotional message that is easy to relate to. The singer's plea for his lover to stay with him and not give up on their relationship resonates with anyone who has experienced heartbreak. The song's repetitive chorus emphasizes the singer's sense of urgency and the real stakes involved in the situation.
