Best known for their raucous live performances, the band became one of the most commercially successful Canadian rock bands of the 1990s. Over their career the band enjoyed nationwide radio-play in Canada and had several Juno Award nominations. Their musicianship is typically tight and energetic, their music usually heavy and rough; lyrics range from break-ups to addiction, damnation to necrophilia.
The band signed to MCA Records in 1993 and released Picture of Health, with the original drummer Mark Gibson, but he left the band after touring for Picture of Health was over. Dale Harrison was recruited for the follow-up Teeth and Tissue in 1995. The band broke more ground in 1996 with Juno Award nominations for Best Group and Best Rock Album, while releasing Smile and Wave that same year. Three years passed before Nickels for Your Nightmares was released, in which time Carr and Harrison became fathers and Dillon recovered from a drug addiction. The band would release one more album, on BMG, entitled The Oracle of Hi-Fi, before a break up in 2003
Frontman Hugh Dillon has appeared in several films, including the mockumentary Hard Core Logo. He has also played a main role as one of the police officers in the popular show, Flashpoint, shown on CBS/CTV. He heads the Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir.
The original band members reunited in February 2011 for a mini tour. They released the album, titled Love + Fury, on 14 May 2013.
Losing Control
Headstones Lyrics

Stinking drinking I'm slowing down
Jesus Christ almighty save me
Where ever you want I'll kneel down
Busted headlights broken ribs so hoarse I can't swallow
Changed my name about an hour ago and I drive into tomorrow
Losing control - I can't take it
Losing control - man if I could
Losing cont - trol
Catch me now
I'm slipping baby
I don't know where to turn
Last time that I saw him man he did the chicken while he burned
Line 'em up I shoot 'em down no never mind to me
Contain it all the hard way I do it intravenously
So many ways to define it
It simply is a curse
And what it was that drove me here
A fifth of it was nerve
Busted headlights broken ribs so numb that I'm hollow
Changed the claim about an hour ago
I drive into tomorrow
The Headstones' song "Losing Control" is a powerful and emotion-filled rock ballad that tackles themes of desperation and hopelessness. The lyrics contain vivid imagery and metaphor that convey the singer's feelings of being lost and overwhelmed, both physically and emotionally. The opening lines, "Where does it go when the last breath leaves me/Stinking drinking I'm slowing down" immediately set the tone for the rest of the song, highlighting the singer's self-destructive behaviors and the toll they are taking on them. The use of religious allusion, with the plea to "Jesus Christ almighty save me/Where ever you want I'll kneel down," adds to the sense of desperation and the singer's need for something, anything, to hold onto.
The chorus of "Losing Control" is a repeated refrain of the title, serving as a reminder of the song's central theme. The verses following the chorus build on this theme, with lines like "Catch me now/I'm slipping baby/I don't know where to turn" and "So many ways to define it/It simply is a curse" emphasizing the singer's feelings of being trapped and helpless. The final lines of the song, "Changed the claim about an hour ago/I drive into tomorrow," suggest a glimmer of hope or a sense of determination to move forward, despite everything that has happened.
Overall, "Losing Control" is a poignant and raw song that tackles difficult subject matter with honesty and intensity. The lyrics and music work together to create a sense of urgency and desperation that is reflective of the human experience.

I'm pretty sure it's "Lacks and educated edge" rather than "That's an educated edge".
