Laydies Bryng Your Flowers Faire
Heather Alexander Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Fresh as the morning dew
Virgin white and through the night
I will make sweet love to you
The petals soon grow soft and fall
Upon which we may rest
With gentle sigh, I'll softly lie
And dreams like many wondrous flowers
Will blossom from our sleep
With steady arm from any harm
My lady I will keep
Through soft spring days and summer's haze
I will be with thee 'til when
The fall draws near, I disappear
'til spring has come again
Laydies bryng your flowers faire
Fresh as the morning dew
Virgin white and through the night
I will make sweet love to you
The lyrics of Heather Alexander's "Laydies Bryng Your Flowers Faire" are a poetic and romantic ode to the beauty of nature and intimacy. The first stanza urges women to bring their most beautiful flowers, freshly picked and glistening with dew. The singer, presumably a man, promises to make sweet love to his lady all night long. The second stanza describes the petals of these flowers falling softly, creating a bed on which the couple can rest. The singer expresses his desire to lie with his lady, his head on her breast, and dream sweet dreams.
The third stanza is a continuation of the romantic fantasy, with the singer promising to protect his lady from harm with his steady arm. The fourth stanza evokes the passing of seasons, with the couple's intimacy lasting through spring and summer, until the fall when the singer disappears until the spring returns. The final stanza repeats the first, with the singer urging women to bring their flowers once again, perpetuating the cycle of intimacy and renewal.
Overall, the lyrics of "Laydies Bryng Your Flowers Faire" celebrate the beauty of nature and the passionate connection between a man and a woman. The imagery of flowers and the changing seasons creates a dreamy and romantic atmosphere, while the promises of protection and intimacy create a sense of deep connection.
