Deep Purple
Helen Forrest Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When the deep purple falls over sleepy garden walls
And the stars begin to flicker in the sky
Through the mist of a memory you wander back to me
Breathing my name with a sigh
In the still of the night once again I hold you tight
Though you're gone, your love lives on when moonlight beams
And as long as my heart will beat, lover we'll always meet
Here in my deep purple dreams
Here in my deep purple dreams

O M G I'm so glad I've discovered 30's-60's music. I'm 23 and it's so rare for people my age to hear such old music, and I absolutely adore this song. Arghh Helen Forrest's voice had me completely enamoured. Beautiful

Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong era. I hear this beautiful music and think about how I would have loved to see these performances in person.

@general5104

Yea...try whistling that crap they play today!

@general5104

yea, and, due to the WWII, most folks were dirt poor and tye black folk weren't even recognized! This country is a very YOUNG country! We're just a little over three centuries old! Something has to give or we're all going down the tubes! There's too much division! The music is crying out for some type of change...but I'm afraid, tge powers that be are going to land us in SOCIALISM ! Then, everybody is sunk!
