Teach Me
Henson Keaton Lyrics

And say it like I mean it when I don't
Teach me how to hold you in my arms
Without squeezing too damn tight and causing harm
I'll learn not to look at you with scorn
If you promise to never have been born
By all means give me lessons in my ways
But damn it don't expect me to change
Mold me to the man that I should be
But don't consider that man to be free
How am I expected to behave?
When I'm alone with myself everyday
And I'll never love
You enough
My love
And I'll never hold
You close
Enough
Teach me how to love you like I wrote
And say it like I mean it when I don't
In "Teach Me," Henson Keaton expresses his vulnerability and desire to learn how to love his partner in the way he knows he should. What's interesting about the song is that it highlights how love can be difficult to express, especially when we struggle to live up to our own expectations. Keaton acknowledges that he wants to be the type of man his partner deserves but admits it won't be easy.
The first verse shows Keaton's frustration with not being able to love his partner the way he wants to. He wants to learn how to be genuine in his feelings, even when he struggles to articulate them. The second verse shows his desire to hold his partner close without causing harm, which emphasizes how he wants to love and care for his partner but doesn't quite know how. The tone of the verse shifts when he mentions looking at his partner with scorn, and then asking them not to have been born. This line shows his frustration and fear of failure, but also highlights his desire for the person he loves to exist in his life.
The third verse shows Keaton's willingness to learn and, at the same time, his resistance to change. He wants to become the man his partner deserves, but it won't be easy, and he won't be entirely free. He also questions how he's expected to behave when he's alone with himself, which reveals his uncertainty and self-doubt. The chorus ends the song with Keaton expressing that he'll never love his partner enough or hold them close enough, but he hopes to learn how to express his love as he's written it down.
Overall, "Teach Me" is a vulnerable and introspective song that expresses the difficulties of expressing love, especially when we struggle to meet our own expectations.

Sometimes we need to stop feeding the side of us that destroys us, destroys a harmonious version of us. At times you have to forbid yourself from “celebrating your sadness” that eats you up from within. (Being a sensitive person myself, I know what it’s like when u can’t help but feeling what u feel and strangers tell you “u need this, u need that”, but that’s exactly why...)
And if I were your girlfriend I’d chop that beard off. Because in your case beard that long and that unruly doesn’t contribute to your style anyhow.
I’d force you to take the vitamins such as EPO (it’s Evening Primrose Oil that’s known for its benefits for the nervous system, it’s soothing and calming), the complex of group B vitamins (playing a vital role in the brain activity)...
I don’t believe in anti-depressants, especially in American.
Sorry to be v. straightforward. Sorry to leave a comment that doesn’t relate to the music. I know the world currently is so much more than just getting healthy by vitamin intake, but it’s better than doing nothing at all.
But... it’s just, you look as someone whose balance is broken.

P.S. Shouldn’t be leaving this message, I am not in a position to set an example, not being a “success” or at the happiest place currently myself.
